#SHOWBIZ: Nina Kho: I felt strange being treated like a 'queen' on Chinese film set
KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak-born actress Nina Kho Siew Ching, 33, may be based in China, but Malaysia is never far from her mind, especially when it comes to food and work culture.
In a news report yesterday, the star of the upcoming film Honey Trap said that even though she was treated like a "queen" on Chinese film sets and was served eight-course meals, it could never beat Malaysian cuisine.
She also found it strange that she wasn't allowed to mix with the production crew or even share her food with them, as she was confined to her special room.
"I was recently on the set of a film called Reborn, and each of the main stars had an eight-course meal in his or her own room," she said.
"While the food is good in China, it can never beat Malaysian food; what's from home is always the best. And better still, there are no boundaries between actors and production crew members, unlike what happened on the set of Reborn."
Nina said that she was honoured to star in her first Malay language film, Honey Trap, and admitted that she had to work hard to brush up on her command of the national language.
"I'm very thankful to the production team for helping me improve my Bahasa Malaysia."
Nina began her acting career in China in 2015, before appearing in Malaysian dramas in 2022.
