Glenn Kelly reviews the best garden accessories for summer

Journalist Glenn Kelly tried and tested a variety of high-end tech and simple storage solutions to find the best garden bits for summer. After a scintillating May, the Irish weather has returned to its normal changeable best. However, some meteorologists have been looking into their crystal balls and have assured me that summer will return in the next few weeks. So, don't fret, don't throw out your swimwear, and keep that parasol at full mast, because the sunny weather may be just around the corner. To get you in the mood for those sizzling Sundays entertaining your friends, or the terrific Tuesdays making pizzas outdoors with the kids, read on to see just what furniture and tech you need to make your garden the best and most envied in your neighbourhood. Alps compact modular outdoor sofa set €1,660 (All prices from time of writing) With two stores on the island of Ireland, Dobbies is a great option for everything garden-related, including this six-seater Alps corner set. The set comfortably seats six with super comfy cushions and two separate stools. The full-size table has been excellent at providing ample space for our family of four and a begging Labradoodle. With some simple cushions and a throw, this was garnering plenty of compliments from our friends at a recent party. It is weather-resistant and washable too, for good measure, just in case that sun disappears. Keter Store it Out Midi 845L €148 If you are garage-less like us, a small shed soon fills up with useful items and rubbish alike, so Dobbies also do a neat storage container, meaning you can put away all those dining set cushions during the colder months, but making sure they remain dry and protected. Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer (stand optional extra) €299.95 What fantastic pizzas you can make with the new Ninja Artisan oven. Our kids had so much fun making and rolling their own dough, adding toppings and then watching their creations cook in as little as three minutes. The quality of the pizzas was superb, replicating take-away standards. You have a choice of artisan, thin and crispy, or a number of other bases, and a digital timer counts down to eating time. The oven also doubles as an air-fryer, which is so useful for outdoor dining. Our neighbours were also impressed by the ease of use and the taste - the Dads were super jealous. Ninja have not stopped at pizzas this summer, and while the oven gets too hot for kids to play around, the brand has come up with the perfect sideshow to keep kids entertained and hydrated while they wait for a Margherita or Pepperoni. Ninja Slushi frozen drink maker €399 Undoubtedly, the new Slushi machine is the most fun release of the year so far. I've never seen as many eager kids swarm around a piece of tech before, desperate to give it a go. In fact, the parents were also keen to give it a go. The machine is so easy to use. Just add fruit juice, and the machine uses the sugar content in the drink to turn it all icy and yummy - you don't even need to add ice. It only takes eight minutes to slushify, and it also makes alcoholic* slushies, which I didn't get a chance to try but undoubtedly will be over the coming months. DeLonghi Rivelia automatic coffee machine €799.95 Everyone needs a good coffee machine nowadays for when visitors call around, and it is no different in the summer. DeLonghi's newest automatic offering, the Rivelia does everything you could ask for. Making up to an incredible 16 varieties of coffee and milky drinks. The machine is operated via a 3.5" touchscreen, so the best coffees are literally just a tap away. The real party trick of this machine is the fact that you can swap hoppers. This means you can pop between your favourite two blends, or in my case, switch to decaf later in the day (yes, I am getting old). I find DeLonghi machines to be up there with the very best on the market and worth the premium price. Sonos Move 2 portable speaker €369 Now that we have sorted out our food and drink, we need to get the sounds just right, and there is no better place to start than with this Sonos item. The speaker is fully rechargeable and portable, as well as being splashproof, in case anyone gets carried away with the paddling pool. The sound quality here is superb with deep bass and crystal-clear vocals. The app also works really well, and I was able to connect my apps to this in a few seconds. While it is not the lightest speaker, I was really impressed with the five hours I got on this on one charge with some to spare, so you won't be rushing to plug it in every five minutes. I also think the green looks ace. Now for the parts that no one usually enjoys: the preparation to get your house and garden in ship shape. But I can guarantee you that these two items from Karcher will have you singing while you work. Karcher battery rechargeable lawnmower 18-36cm €449.99 Rechargeable lawnmowers are becoming more and more popular as the battery life now allows for larger gardens to be cut on one charge, and Karcher has taken this to the next level with their own version. This mower glides effortlessly over the grass. I have approximately 120m of lawn, and it completes the task with some to spare. Cleaning and emptying the large basket is a breeze, and it folds up to allow easy storage. The charge only takes about 90 minutes as well, just make sure you remember to do it after using, so it is full and ready to go for the next time. Karcher Window Vac 6 Plus N €139.99 Whilst I take care of the grass, my wife is forever talking about cleaning our windows, due to the many mini prints our kids insist on putting on them, and Karcher's new window vac appears to meet her exceptionally high demands. It is a breeze to use and comes with a handy digital readout to let you know how long is left on the charge. The results are sparkling, and even I can carry out the task for some brownie points. DeLonghi Penguino portable air conditioner €696.96 Now, technically, this is not garden equipment, but if, like me, you love the sunshine during the day but dread the hot nights when you or the kids just can't get a good night's sleep, how about a mobile air conditioner? We may not have the climate of Spain, but it is surprising how many nights are hot and sticky where you would love a cold breeze to cool you down, and DeLonghi has just the answer. Capable of cooling a room up to 110m2 and also working remotely, and with the function to de-humidify it really has got all you would ever need to keep you from becoming hot under the collar. The machine also uses the latest technology to be quite energy efficient, too, so you won't spend a fortune with some infrequent use. So, now you are all set with the best ideas for your summer garden, all you need is some glasses, plates, cutlery, sunglasses, the weather…oh…and some friends to share in the fun. Enjoy!

There are five pizza settings to suit any craving, from artisan crusts to crispy thin crusts and deep-dish Chicago-style pies. Additionally, with no wood, gas, or flames to manage, the electric oven offers precise digital controls and temperatures of up to 370°C. Another great option is the VonHaus Pizza Oven available on Amazon, now down to £119.99 from £144.99. The tabletop pizza oven allows you to make your favourite pizzas with ease. If you're dreaming of a multi-functional option for outdoor dining, the Ninja Artisan Electric Pizza Oven is a top contender, and fans have awarded the oven and air fryer a generous 4.7 stars online. One delighted shopper wrote in a five-star review: "The pizza oven is amazing! It's so easy to use and it cooks pizzas perfectly. It cooked 9' sourdough pizzas in 40 seconds and 9' normal dough bases in 2 minutes. We had a party and it was fun to use!" A second person raved: "Absolutely brilliant! It's incredible and so easy to use! I never thought I would be eating an Italian-style pizza in my very own garden." While a third person shared: "Wow wow wow! This pizza oven does exactly what it says. Right from the very first pizza, it was perfect! A delicious, crisp, chewy crust and artisian pizza in 3 minutes." However, someone shopper noted: "I have had this for a few weeks, but the weather prevented me from trying it out sooner! So far, I have made pizza, which was excellent and cooked super quickly! Although I do need more practice making the pizza dough." It was mostly good news in the comments, with customers only sharing that they need to practice using the outdoor oven more as a slight negative. This website exclusive deal is limited, so it won't be around for too much longer. It saves shoppers £76 on the Electric Pizza Oven & Air Fryer only on the Ninja wesbite.

Major retailer offering more than £80 off pizza oven that will be perfect for garden parties

A MAJOR retailer currently has a huge deal on a pizza oven that would be perfect for summer garden parties. The Range is selling the Westinghouse 12 Inch Pizza Oven for £145, but it's usually on sale for £229 - meaning shoppers can get a massive £80 off. 1 The electric pizza oven can be used both indoors and outdoors and has a 12-inch pizza stone. A description on The Range's website says the oven can make "homemade authentic pizzas at home in minutes". As the oven is electric, you won't need anything extra - just the pizza itself. "All you need to do is plug it in, pre-heat, and your pizza oven is ready to go," it says. The oven is advertised as easy to clean as it will burn any food residue that's been left over while it's pre-heating. It is a whopping £155 cheaper than the similar Ninja version, while is selling for £299.99. However the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer also has air fryer functions, meaning you could cook things like chicken breasts and chips inside too. Ninja says the oven can cook pizzas in three minutes or less, with settings including Artisan, Thin Crust, New York and Pan. Remember, it's always worth shopping around for deals to make sure you get the best price. For example, The Range's website has pizza ovens at a variety of price points - but you can also check at other shops too. If you wanted a cheaper option, The Range sells the Pizza Oven Charcoal Grilling for £89.99 (down from £99.99). The portable wood-fired oven is said to be "perfect for pizzas, roasts, baking and searing". Unlike the electric pizza oven, you would need a natural firelighter and either kiln-dried hardwood or pizza oven pellets. The Range says the oven can "cook anything in less than five minutes" as it heats up to 500C. How to save money on pizza TAKEAWAY pizzas taste great but they can hit you hard on your wallet. Here are some tips on how to save on pizza: Cashback websites - TopCashback and Quidco will pay you to order your pizza through them. They're paid by retailers for every click that comes to their website from the cashback site, which eventually trickles down to you. So you'll get cashback on orders placed through them. Discount codes - Check sites like VoucherCodes for any discount codes you can use to get money off your order. Make you own topping - One savvy customer noticed that Domino's charges up to 70p MORE for pizzas on its menu compared to ordering the same one through the "create your own" option. It's worth trying out to see if it makes a difference before you place your next order. Buy it from the shops - It might not taste exactly the same but you'll save the most money by picking up your favourite pizza from your local supermarket. Some Asda stores sell freshly made ones from the pizza counter where prices start at £2. If you're looking for a pizza oven that can also be used as a BBQ (and you're willing to splash out more), you could try the Outdoor Pizza Oven and Cover by KuKoo. It comes in at £224.99 but is multi-purpose so you can use it for your BBQ and smoking needs too. The product description says it's great for baking bread, barbecuing meat and fish, and also works as a smoker for things like pulled pork joints. How to compare prices to get the best deal JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal. There are plenty of comparison websites out there that'll check prices for you - so don't be left paying more than you have to. Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers. Here are some that we recommend: Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results. Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock. Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one. CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

Dunelm's portable pizza oven makes ‘the best pizzas ever' and is £120 cheaper than Ooni

Dunelm shoppers have been raving about its £180 portable wood pellet pizza oven which they say makes 'the best pizzas ever' and takes just 15 minutes to heat up When the sun is shining there's nothing better than a bit of al fresco dining, and it's even better when your meal doesn't involve ages spent indoors over the oven or sweating over a temperamental barbecue. That's why pizza ovens have become one of the must-haves for any garden over the last few years, offering a quick and easy way to whip up some delicious shareable food. Whilst big brands like Ooni have dominated, there are plenty of more affordable options if your budget doesn't quite stretch that far. Whilst Ooni's Fyra 12 12" Wood Pellet Outdoor Pizza Oven is priced at £299, Dunelm's Zanussi Wood Pellet Pizza Oven with Paddle & Cover is just £179, saving you £120. The Zanussi Wood Pellet Pizza Oven is the perfect compact pizza oven that lets you make delicious fresh pizzas anywhere, with foldable legs and a portable design that lets you set up anywhere from your back garden to a campsite. All you need to get it going is a natural firelighter and some food pellets, and it's lightweight and efficient, giving you a wood-fired taste with minimal effort required. Rather than spending hours waiting for grills to heat up and food to cook, the Zanussi Pizza Oven is ready to go in 15 minutes. It can cook authentic stone-baked pizzas measuring up to 12' in 60 seconds, giving you plenty of food for the family in no time. It comes with a pizza stone which helps crisp them up perfectly, as well as an oven paddle to remove your pizzas without burning yourself or dropping them, and a cover to keep it in good shape between uses. It's not just pizzas you can whip up in the Zanussi Pizza Oven either; you can use it for baking, roasting and searing plenty of other foods. Since it landed on the Dunelm website last year, it's received 10 reviews – and every one of them has been a five star rating. 'Works great, easy to use. Best pizzas I've ever had and they are so quick to make,' said one. Another agreed: 'An excellent pizza oven. Sleek design. Easy to assemble and is portable with a handy carry bag. The pizzas were a success with an even bake, crispy on the edges and melt in your mouth cheesy topping. Delicious!' A third wrote: 'Researched for months on getting a portable pizza oven and I'm extremely pleased with this. Heated up vey quickly, and cooked pizzas in the exact time it describes. Got it up to 490•C. Only cons is you have to keep on top of pellets to add. For the price it's a definite winner in comparison to the other brands.' If you'd rather not risk running out of the wood pellets, you could try out the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer for £299.99, which runs on electric ensuring you're never out of fuel. It not only acts as a pizza oven, but like other Ninja gadgets it has a multi-use, including working as an air fryer, prover and oven to bake things in. Elsewhere Gozney has a whole host of different pizza ovens, which come in a variety of prices and offer gas-cooking options. You can also pick up everything you need to make your own pizzas at home from pizza dough to peels.
