Days after erroneous release from Faridabad jail, prisoner caught from village in Bihar
Faridabad, A prisoner jailed on charges of raping a minor who was released from the district jail here due to a mistaken identity was caught from his village in Patna, Bihar, police said on Sunday. He was produced in a city court and sent into judicial custody again in Neemka jail, they said. Nitesh Pandey was mistakenly released from Neemka jail instead of another inmate named Nitesh who received bail from a Faridabad court, leading the suspension of five jail officials. The fathers of the Niteshs also had the same name, adding to the confusion. A senior police officer said that during interrogation, accused Nitesh Pandey revealed that he knew that the other Nitesh was to get bail in a case in which he was being tried for trespass and assault. After the second Nitesh got bail on Monday, the prisoners were called. The inmate who got the bail was not present at the spot on Tuesday and the rape accused identified himself as Nitesh and came out of the jail, he added. A case was registered against Nitesh Pandey, son of Ravindra Pandey, under sections of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act in 2021 at Sector-58 police station. He was lodged in Neemka jail after his arrest. The other Nitesh Nitesh, son of Ravindra and a resident of Shastri Colony under Old Faridabad Police Station area, was also lodged in the jail after being arrested in a case of assault, police said. After the goof up, the jail administration claimed that Nitesh Pandey managed to obtain his release by "hiding his identity" and an FIR was registered at Sadar Faridabad police station. Director General of Jail Department Mohammad Akil, Jail Assistant Superintendent Mohanlal, Deputy Assistant Pradeep Tyagi, Havaldar Rajendra and two wardens, Sanjeev and Rajesh, were suspended for negligence over the entire incident.

Name Mix-Up Leads To Wrongful Release Of Rape Accused From Faridabad Jail
Last Updated: The accused, identified as 27-year-old Nitesh Pandey, son of Ravinder Pandey, was arrested in October 2021 for the repeated rape of a nine-year-old boy in Faridabad. A case of mistaken identity led to the release of a prisoner accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act from a district jail, instead of the intended prisoner due for release on bail, according to police reports. A further case has been registered against the POCSO prisoner for concealing his identity to secure his release, the Sadar police station confirmed. Sadar police station SHO Umesh Kumar stated that a search for the prisoner has commenced and assured his swift apprehension. The accused, identified as 27-year-old Nitesh Pandey, son of Ravinder Pandey, was arrested in October 2021 for the repeated rape of a nine-year-old boy in Faridabad. The situation is complicated by the presence of a second individual named Nitesh, aged 24, who also has a father named Ravinder. This second Nitesh was jailed the previous Sunday on charges of house trespass and assault. Police confirmed that both men were held at Neemka Jail, Faridabad. The second Nitesh, accused of assault, was granted bail on Monday by the Faridabad court Chief Judicial Magistrate and was scheduled for release on Tuesday. However, authorities mistakenly released the rape-accused Nitesh Pandey. Jail authorities allege that the released Nitesh Pandey concealed his true identity to secure his release. 'We have lodged a complaint with the Sadar Police Station against Nitesh Pandey for obtaining his release by hiding his identity," Jail Deputy Superintendent Vikram Singh confirmed. Rajkot: Remember when during the Covid-19 pandemic the lack of access to liquor drove some desperate individuals to drink hand sanitizer as a substitute for alcohol? Acting on specific intelligence, police conducted a raid at Chamunda Provision Store in Dwarka on March 29 and seized 106 suspicious bottles. These transparent plastic bottles were labelled 'Green Apple Hand Rub' and 'Orange Hand Rub'. Similar bottles were found in other provision stores nearby. The investigation revealed that the liquid had been manufactured at Vasai in Maharashtra. Police raided a factory named HR Herbal there, but only found manufacturing equipment and some documents indicating that these were being sent to Gujarat for sale. The forensic report revealed the sanitzer comprised 57% ethyl alcohol and 2.5% isopropyl alcohol. Liquor is usually approximately 40% ethyl alcohol, while isopropyl alcohol, typically used as a disinfectant and antiseptic, is toxic and dangerous for human consumption. If somebody drinks two or three bottles a day for 15 days, it can severely damage their liver," said Nitesh Pandey, superintendent of police, Devbhumi Dwarka district. "The manufacturer supplied these bottles to provision store owners for sale as liquor. They were also told that if police approached them, they were to say they were hand sanitizer," he added. Police arrested two provision store owners, Savdas Popaniya and Chirag Thobhani, along with a driver, Akram Nazir. A fourth suspect, the supplier Lagdhirsinh Jadeja, who was link between the Vasai factory and the store owners, is at large.
