Jimmie Johnson's special paint scheme for 700th Cup start revealed
Jimmie Johnson's special paint scheme for 700th Cup start revealed Jimmie Johnson will only make two starts in the NASCAR Cup Series during the 2025 season, and the last one will be extremely special. In two weeks, Johnson will compete in the 2025 Coca-Cola 600, which also represents his 700th Cup Series start. The No. 84 car's paint scheme has been revealed ahead of the special milestone. On Wednesday, Legacy Motor Club revealed the new look honoring Johnson's 700th Cup Series start. Carvana will sponsor Johnson and the No. 84 team and have a blue base. The No. 84 will be black with a yellow outline and number on the roof. Overall, it is a sharp paint scheme for Legacy Motor Club. Johnson, the new majority owner of Legacy Motor Club, doesn't have many races left in his NASCAR career, and the Coca-Cola 600 could be one of his last. The seven-time NASCAR champion is ready for his 700th Cup Series start, and the No. 84 car looks sharp to commemorate the occasion. Jimmie Johnson talks about third-place finish in the 2025 Daytona 500
Jimmie Johnson didn't enter the winner's circle after the 2025 Daytona 500, but his performance sure felt like a victory. On Sunday night, Johnson guided the No. 84 team for Legacy Motor Club to a third-place finish in the 2025 Daytona 500. It is the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion's best finish in the NextGen car. It was also a successful night for Legacy Motor Club, placing all three drivers in the top 12 spots. Following the Great American Race, Johnson climbed out of his No. 84 car and discussed his third-place finish. It may not have been a victory, but the Legacy Motor Club majority owner was very pleased with the night. "This feels incredible," Johnson said. "I have emotions that I didn't expect to have. I've never been in this position as an owner, and it's really opened up a different set of emotions. And the pride that I have in this result and the pride that I have in this company, now that we're trying to achieve and the journey we're on, I am so satisfied, so happy right now." "Excited that we have two cars in the top 5. I hope [Shaquille O'Neal] is watching. Thank you, buddy. We got your car in the top 3. A big thanks to Carvana and their continued support, Mobil 1, AdventHealth, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree. It's been an interesting couple of years, and to have our cars come out and be this strong, this Toyota was rocketship fast. I'm just smiling inside and out." Johnson's lived up to the pressure at the 2025 Daytona 500 after Legacy Motor Club partnered with Shaquille O'Neal for a paint scheme. It has been a rough few seasons for the driver of the No. 84 car; however, this is hard work paying off at the highest level. Now, Johnson and Legacy Motor Club will look forward to improving the team over the 2025 NASCAR season. More:Scott Dixon wants to compete in the 2026 Daytona 500

How Shaq ended up designing Jimmie Johnson's 2025 Daytona 500 paint scheme
There will be plenty of flashy and eye-catching paint schemes on the track at Daytona International Speedway this weekend for the NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the 2025 Daytona 500. But Jimmie Johnson's ride will be hard to miss. The seven-time NASCAR champ — who races part-time for his team, Legacy Motor Club after retiring from full-time racing in 2020 —will pilot the No. 84 Toyota in Sunday's Daytona 500. He's one of nine drivers without a charter entered in the race, and he and Martin Truex Jr. — who retired from full-time racing at the end of the 2024 season — locked themselves into the after qualifying for the 40-car Daytona 500 field Wednesday night. Johnson's paint scheme for the Daytona 500 was designed in part by Shaquille O'Neal and is inspired by his career, particularly his time with the Orlando Magic. DAYTONA 500 ODDS: Blaney, Logano and Keselowski lead early Daytona 500 odds But, of course, like everything in NASCAR, it's all tied to Johnson's sponsor, Carvana, which also works with Shaq. The pair faced off in a free throw contest with the chance to design the paint scheme on the line, and, despite his extremely mediocre time at the line in the NBA, Shaq barely beat Johnson in a first-to-five competition. It's the moment you didn't know you've been waiting for… me vs @jimmiejohnson in a free-throw contest that'll determine the Daytona paint scheme!! Who will win, and what design will JJ be rocking? #ad@carvanaracing @legacymotorclub @shaqsfunhouse — SHAQ (@SHAQ) February 2, 2025 So Shaq designed the No. 84 car's paint scheme for the 2025 Daytona 500. Via Legacy Motor Club: 'Shaq's take on the No. 84 Toyota draws inspiration from his classic 1990s uniform, complete with signature pinstripes, a sleek colorway, and the iconic 'Dunkman' logo taking center stage on the hood of the car.' Well, a bet's a bet… @SHAQ designed it, and I'm sticking to my word. See it on track February 16th! #Daytona500 — Jimmie Johnson (@JimmieJohnson) February 8, 2025 'I have to admit—he's got style. It's bold, it's iconic, and I can't wait to take it to the track,' Johnson said in a release. Here's a closer look at Johnson's paint scheme for the 2025 Daytona 500: The 2025 Daytona 500 is Sunday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

Carvana, Jimmie Johnson, and Shaquille O'Neal Settle the Score With One-of-a-Kind Paint Scheme for Daytona
What happens when a seven-time NASCAR champ and a basketball Hall of Famer settle their playful online banter with a friendly wager? In this case, one of them gets to 'dress' the other for Daytona. Carvana, an industry pioneer for buying and selling used cars online, has brought together Jimmie Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal in the best way possible—by helping Shaq settle the score with his own custom paint scheme for Johnson's No.84 Toyota. This press release features multimedia. 'Jimmie and I had a ton of fun putting this together,' said O'Neal. 'The car looks amazing, and I can't wait to see him tear up the track next Sunday. Lucky for him, he's got a better shot at victory lane than at the free-throw line!' Shaq's take on the No. 84 Toyota draws inspiration from his classic 1990s uniform, complete with signature pinstripes, a sleek colorway, and the iconic 'Dunkman' logo taking center stage on the hood of the car. If there was any doubt about who won this round, one look at the car makes it crystal clear. 'I figured our little feud would stay online, but next thing I know, Shaq's challenging me to a free throw contest and calling the shots on my paint scheme,' said Jimmie Johnson, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and co-owner of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB. 'I have to admit—he's got style. It's bold, it's iconic, and I can't wait to take it to the track.' 'Jimmie and Shaq are two of the most legendary athletes in their sports, and when they started going back and forth, we knew something fun had to come out of it,' said Ryan Keeton, Carvana co-founder and Chief Brand Officer. 'By blending the worlds of basketball and NASCAR, we're bringing together two high-energy arenas and two iconic athletes to create something truly unforgettable for fans of both sports.' Fans can catch Shaq and Johnson's No. 84 Toyota in action for the first time on February 16, 2025, at Daytona International Speedway. The race is set to broadcast on FOX at 2:30 p.m. ET. Jimmie Johnson's new NASCAR crew chief for the 2025 Daytona 500 has been revealed. According to NASCAR's Roster Portal, Chad Johnston will serve as the crew chief for Johnson and the No. 84 team at the 2025 Daytona 500. In November 2024, Johnston signed with Legacy Motor Club as the new Manager of Race Engineering.
