Miley Cyrus Launches Her New Album At No. 1
Miley Cyrus's Something Beautiful debuts at No. 1 on the U.K.'s Official Albums Sales and Downloads ... More charts and nears the top spot on several other rankings. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 05: Miley Cyrus attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 05, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by) Miley Cyrus's hotly-anticipated new album Something Beautiful debuts on charts all around the world this week. The set brings the pop superstar back to the highest reaches of rankings in dozens of countries, as her fanbase showed up in droves to support the full-length. In the United Kingdom, the collection seems to have made a particularly strong impression, especially when it comes to those followers who love to not only listen, but buy. Something Beautiful earns Cyrus another No. 1 in that country — several of them, actually — as it leads multiple rankings at the same time. Something Beautiful launches on five charts in the U.K., kicking off its time at No. 1 on two of them. The latest full-length from Cyrus opens atop both the Official Albums Sales and Official Album Downloads charts, and it's clear that pure purchases largely powered the multi-genre effort to success. As the set arrives, Cyrus doubles her total count of No. 1s on the Official Albums Sales chart. She only reached the peak position for the first time under her name in 2023 with Endless Summer Vacation, her most recent project before Something Beautiful. The singer has now scored a trio of leaders on the Official Album Downloads list, as Bangerz also joined in on the fun during its run. Something Beautiful came very close to reaching No. 1 on two other tallies, but just barely missed out on the summit. The set starts in the runner-up space on the Official Vinyl Albums chart and comes in at No. 3 on the main list of the most consumed full-lengths and EPs throughout the U.K. Somewhat surprisingly, Something Beautiful underperforms when it comes to streaming activity. Despite her largely younger fan base – the demographic that loves streaming sites – Cyrus launches her title on the Official Albums Streaming chart at No. 39, just barely sneaking into the top 40 region. The numbers show that sales played a huge role in the project's placement on the Official Albums chart, which blends both streams and purchases.

Pink Floyd Breaks Its Tie With Several Major Rock Bands
More than half a century after it was recorded, At Pompeii - MCMLXXII by Pink Floyd is the No. 1 album in the United Kingdom. The legendary rock group's full-length project debuts atop almost every tally on which it appears in the country, where the band remains one of the most famous and celebrated of all time. At Pompeii is yet another addition to Pink Floyd's growing list of No. 1 projects. With this latest triumph, the band ties with several other major acts and manages to pass several others, extending its run of wins into another decade and once again demonstrating its timeless appeal. At Pompeii earns Pink Floyd its seventh No. 1 on the Official Albums chart, the ranking of the most consumed projects in the U.K. With seven champions now included in its discography, the band is tied with Prodigy, Muse, Blur, and Kasabian for the fourteenth-most No. 1 albums among non-solo musical acts in the country's history. Before At Pompeii arrived, Pink Floyd was already tied with an even greater number of bands on the list of those with the most leaders. Acts with six chart-toppers each include The Police, Arctic Monkeys, Genesis, Kings of Leon, Radiohead, The Script, Foo Fighters, and The Chemical Brothers. Scoring seven No. 1 albums is an impressive feat, but it's still only about half as many as the top performers on the all-time list. The Beatles lead with 15 No. 1 full-lengths, while The Rolling Stones follow closely with 14. A handful of other names have also reached double-digit leaders, such as U2 with 11, and ABBA, Queen, and Coldplay with 10 apiece. Stereophonics and Take That have earned nine each, while Oasis, Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., The Killers, and Westlife all claim eight No. 1s on the Official Albums chart. At Pompeii enters half a dozen U.K.-based albums rankings this frame and leads all but one. The title narrowly misses the top spot on the Official Album Downloads chart, but manages to become a bestseller across every other format.

Pink Floyd Charts A New No. 1 Album Thanks To A Special Re-Release
Pink Floyd earns its seventh U.K. No. 1 album with At Pompeii - MCMLXXII , the band's first ... More chart-topper since 2014's The Endless River. The legendary rock band scores a brand new chart-topping album in the United Kingdom as At Pompeii - MCMLXXII debuts in first place on the list of the most consumed full-lengths and EPs in the country. Pink Floyd has been on quite the winning streak lately, with both a hugely successful concert film re-release and now a bestselling album to go with it, and both come from recordings made more than half a century ago. At Pompeii - MCMLXXII marks Pink Floyd's seventh chart-topper in the U.K. The group hasn't collected a new champion since 2014's The Endless River, which stands as its last studio LP of original material. Pink Floyd first reached the summit on the Official Albums chart in 1970 with Atom Heart Mother. Over the decades, the group returned to the throne with Wish You Were Here, The Final Cut, The Division Bell, Pulse (Live), and then later The Endless River. Including its seven No. 1s, Pink Floyd has now earned a milestone 20 top 10s on the Official Albums chart. That roster includes some of the group's most successful efforts, which somehow never managed to dominate this all-encompassing ranking, including beloved projects like The Dark Side of the Moon, Animals and The Wall, all of which lived inside the top five for a time. At Pompeii - MCMLXXII shares its name (at least partially) with a concert film Pink Floyd recorded in 1971 in the ancient Roman ruins. It was originally released the following year and has since become not just a huge commercial and critical success, but also the blueprint that which many other musical acts have followed. The movie was recently restored and re-released into cinemas around the world. So far, the film has earned about $6.5 million at the global box office, enough to make it one of the top-performing music-related projects of the year. The film's soundtrack dropped shortly after the movie became a top performer again at the box office and was released in various formats, including — for the first time — on vinyl.
