‘He's a very generous fella' – Zach Bryan leaves €6,000 tip at Dublin pub to help staff pay college fees

The 29-year-old Grammy winner, who played three sold-out gigs in the capital, made The Celt on Talbot Street his local during his time here — and left a lasting impression on staff with a remarkable act of generosity. According to pub owner Noel Tynan, Bryan visited The Celt straight after landing in Dublin. 'Well, when he came off the plane the first day, he came literally straight to The Celt and he had his wind-up party here,' Noel said. 'He had about 100 in his team, so they were all there, and we also had Chasing Abbey from Tullamore — they're pretty well-known themselves — they dropped in and played.' He added: 'Zach also got up and played a few songs himself, which was great.' According to pub owner Noel Tynan, Bryan was chatting with the bar staff when one of them mentioned working late to help pay for college. 'One of the staff members just happened to pass a remark about working late — said he has to because he has to pay for his fees for college — and Zach said he might be able to help him,' Mr Tynan said. 'So, he said to me, 'How much will I leave?' And I said, 'Leave a million.' I was joking — I didn't think anything would be left! He said, 'How about four grand? And I said how about 10?' I was just joking; I wasn't expecting him to leave anything. 'And he said, 'Tell you what — we'll meet in the middle. We'll make it six.' So, he just left €6,000. And he also gave me two tickets to give to the children's hospital in Crumlin.' 'He's a very generous fella,' he added. After performing all weekend, he returned to The Celt on Sunday night to celebrate finishing his Dublin gigs — and even treated the crowd to more songs. 'He came in on Sunday night to celebrate finishing the gigs — sang a load of songs even after performing all weekend,' Pub owner Mr Tynan said. "To show his generosity, he brought me on stage and everything — so I was beside him when he was doing the last number.' He added: 'He was there two years ago as well and his father has been back a number of times in Dublin, so I'm starting to get to know them pretty well.'
