Fatal accident: Families of three IKBN students to receive RM20,000 insurance payout each
ALOR STAR: The families of the three National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) who died in an accident at Km49.4 of the North-South Expressway here yesterday will receive an insurance payout of RM20,000 each.
IKBN Jitra branch director Norhazita Kamaludin said the institute has also assisted with the funeral arrangements, including transporting the deceased to their hometowns.
She added that contributions were also made by the top management of the Youth and Sports Ministry, including from 21 training institutes under the ministry.
"Everyone at IKBN Jitra extends our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We are truly saddened by this tragic incident," she said today.
Norhazita said IKBN officials and fellow students also accompanied the hearses to the victims' hometowns until the burial arrangements were completed.
Yesterday, three students from IKBN Jitra branch were killed in an accident while returning home on two motorcycles to celebrate Aidiladha tomorrow.
The victims, all aged 19, were Muhamad Habil Mohd Sobri from Gurun; Muhammad Fahmi Mohd Jamel from Jeniang, Sik; and Muhamad Arif Aifan Derani from Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani.
Another victim, Muhammad Adib Aiman Mohamad Hasan, 19, who was riding pillion on one of the motorcycles, is being treated in Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
