Norris and Piastri given clear message amid McLaren's ‘papaya rules'
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has encouraged drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to openly communicate any concerns to prevent tension as they compete for the F1 world championship.
Stella's call for transparency follows an incident at the Spanish Grand Prix where Piastri felt Norris was "cheeky" after benefiting from a tow during Q3.
Piastri leads Norris by 10 points in the standings, with McLaren's improved pace putting them ahead of Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari.
Tensions previously arose in Hungary last season when Norris initially refused to yield the lead to Piastri after a pit stop strategy, before eventually allowing Piastri to win.
The F1 season continues this weekend with the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, with Piastri leading Verstappen by 49 points and Norris trailing by 39.
