One man was killed in a KC apartment. Police are trying to find out how
Police are investigating a homicide in which a man was killed by an unknown cause.
Kansas City police and fire department were called around 10 a.m. to an apartment in the 900 block of East Armour Boulevard in the North Hyde Park neighborhood, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department. The caller said they came home and found the man unresponsive in their unit with unknown injuries and called an ambulance.
Medics on the scene declared the victim dead and homicide detectives responded to begin their investigation, according to Becchina. Detectives are looking for additional evidence and are working with the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
This marks the 71st homicide this year, compared to 67 last year, according to data tracked by The Kansas City Star, which includes officer-involved shootings.
Police believe there are many potential witnesses in the building and are asking anyone who heard or saw something to contact homicide detectives at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.
There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
