UPDATE: 90-year-old woman dead in pedestrian crash in Northeast El Paso, police says

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 90-year-old woman is dead after a pedestrian crash on Tuesday evening, May 20, in Northeast El Paso, El Paso Police Department (EPPD) said. 1 person hurt in crash involving pedestrian in Northeast El Paso EPPD said that officers responded at 8 p.m. on Tuesday to the 9300 block of Stahala Drive for a reported crash involving a pedestrian. The Special Traffic Investigations unit was called to assist in the investigation. The preliminary information revealed that a GMC Sierra was traveling west on Rutherford Drive approaching the intersection of Stahala Drive, EPPD said. EPPD said the truck stopped at the intersection and then made a left turn, striking a pedestrian, later identified as 90-year-old Helen Clanan, crossing the street on the crosswalk. Clanan was taken to a local hospital, and three days later, investigators were notified that she had died, EPPD said. This is the 24th traffic fatality this year. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Three people were seriously hurt in separate incidents Sunday night, May 11 in different parts of El Paso, a Fire Department spokesperson said. One person was transported Code 3 (serious injuries) via ambulance after an incident at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday that reportedly happened at a convenience store at Woodrow Bean and U.S. 54 in Northeast El Paso, the Fire spokesperson said. The Fire Department's helicopter was originally requested but was not used to transport the patient. Earlier, two people were seriously hurt and transported to the hospital via ambulance (again Code 3) after an incident at about 6 p.m. Sunday near Hanks High School in East El Paso. Both incidents are being investigated by the Police Department, the Fire spokesperson said. She did not offer any other details on what happened in each case. EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department and Crime Stoppers of El Paso are asking for your help in identifying a man who stole a vehicle and dragged another man for several feet last month in Northeast El Paso. This is this week's Crime of the Week, as publicized by Crime Stoppers of El Paso. At 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, along the 8200 block of Echo Street, a man in his 60s was taking groceries from his vehicle to his house, Crime Stoppers said. During this time, the suspect, who was walking by the home, ran and jumped into the driver's seat of the victim's vehicle, according to Crime Stoppers. The suspect was then confronted by the victim and the suspect placed the vehicle in gear, according to Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers said when the vehicle was in gear, the victim was dragged several feet. In footage shared by Crime Stoppers, the suspect could be seen fleeing in the victim's vehicle. According to Crime Stoppers, the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 40s, bald, has a medium to large build and may have a short beard. In addition, the suspect wore a black sweater and blue jeans during the incident. The stolen vehicle is described as a white 2005 GMC Yukon with Texas disabled veteran plates 1SFFT.
