The South African Weather Service (SAWS) mentioned that temperatures are likely to drop below freezing point in parts of the province. The extreme cold weather conditions are also expected to increase electricity usage, putting a strain on the electricity network. City Power stated that the use of electricity appliances like heaters and electric blankets to keep warm may overload the infrastructure. 'We appeal to residents and businesses to help us reduce the pressure on the grid by using electricity efficiently and adopting alternative ways to stay warm,' said City Power.
