Berlinale gala moderator honours victim of Holocaust Memorial attack
The presenter of Saturday's closing gala at the Berlinale film festival, Désirée Nosbusch, commemorated the victim of the alleged anti-Semitic attack at the Holocaust Memorial in central Berlin on Friday.
"I would like to remind you once again: all the best for the person who was recently attacked at the Holocaust Memorial here in Berlin," Nosbusch said at the beginning of the gala on Saturday evening.
With the alleged aim of killing Jews, a 19-year-old Syrian refugee stabbed a Spanish tourist in the field of stone pillars that makes up the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.
The 30-year-old victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening neck injuries after the attack on Friday evening. Following emergency surgery, his condition is stable.
