Man arrested after series of distraction thefts in Nottawasaga region

Members of the OPP Central Intelligence Unit and the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested a man in connection with a series of distraction thefts in the Nottawasaga region. According to police, a search warrant was executed on June 6 at a residence in Alliston. As a result of the investigation a 40-year-old man from Alliston was arrested and charged with theft of credit card, possession, use, or trafficking of a stolen or forged credit card, possession of property obtained by crime, laundering proceeds of crime, fraud under $5,000, and fail to comply with probation order. Police want to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings and protect their PIN codes when making purchases. Police also say if members of the pubic believe they are victims of distraction theft or have any more information regarding this investigation to contact Nottawasaga OPP.

Police are asking the public to help identify suspect one. Tue., June 3, 2025. Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the public's help in identifying two people involved in an alcohol theft. Police were called to 7 Commerce Road in Essa Township at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Two people entered the store and took two bottles of alcohol worth $120 before leaving the store without paying. Home invasion in New Tecumseth

Two men robbed residents of a home in New Tecumseth Wed., May 28, 2025. PHOTO: Supplied Two men dressed in black broke into a home and demanded money. Provincial police say the men forcibly entered the New Tecumseth house, showed a gun, and demanded money from the residents on Wednesday at around 4 p.m. Police responded to the call on Anderson Road, but the men had fled the house on foot headed northbound towards Beattie Avenue. Suspect 1: A dark-skinned male, wearing black, white, and red jogging pants, white shoes, and a black hoodie. Suspect 2: A light skinned male, wearing all black, black gloves with a Nike logo, carrying what appeared to be a green recyclable shopping bag. Police also note there were no physical injuries during this incident. Police are asking that anyone in the area between 3:30 p.m. and 4:12 p.m. who may have surveillance video, to contact the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122.
