Fairmont Century Plaza Offers ‘Sleepcation' in Los Angeles

14,000 square feet of award-winning tranquility with the spa inside Fairmont Century Plaza. In rather unsurprising news, a gallup poll found that Americans are sleeping less and are more stressed. 57% of the populace say they would feel better if they got more sleep. And it becomes a slippery slope: without a good slumber, your mind and body suffers. Although the latest beauty products can provide temporary salvation, the heart of the issue isn't addressed: those who are sleep deprived AKA lacking their proper 'beauty rest' — suffer the visible consequences which include swollen eyes, pale skin, wrinkles & fine lines — per this academic study aptly entitled Cues of Fatigue: Effects of Sleep Deprivation on Facial Appearance. But one hotel is aiming to change this, one 'Z' at a time. The Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles is offering sleep-specific treatments to guests and non-guests visiting the spa. 'Sleep has always been essential, but in recent years, there's been a noticeable shift in how we prioritize it. Wellness services like biohacking—designed to promote deep, restorative sleep—gained traction during the pandemic and are now more in demand than ever. One major reason for this is our increased use of smartphones, tablets, and laptops, especially before bed. These devices emit blue light, which suppresses melatonin production and disrupts the body's natural circadian rhythm, making it harder to fall asleep,' explains Alison Kirsten, Director of Spa Operations at the Fairmont Century Plaza. The Fairmont Century Plaza spa service has collaborated with NuCalm for their biohacking treatment. These services are also well-timed to the stressors of more current events; and in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires, there is still some confusion as to whether it's safe to travel to Los Angeles, but Kirsten is reassuring, 'beyond our wonderful spa and hotel, we're just letting everyone know that LA is back (!). And honestly, after the fires, the best way to support our local economy is to visit our city. We want to assure everyone that Los Angeles is recovering and is a safe place to visit,' she explains. Beyond National Sleep Month, she says that (beauty) rest should be prioritized year-round. Case-in-point, their popular Sleep, Mindfulness, And De-Stress (SMD) service — whose program was spearheaded by Oz Garcia, PhD, an authority in progressive nutrition and anti-aging, and author of The Balance and Look and Feel Fabulous Forever — has garnered significant traction since its inception. The SMD service is a Biohacking regime AKA Human Enhancement, 'it's a term used to describe do-it-yourself biology and has evolved from the field of Sports Medicine. It involves making incremental changes to your body to improve your health and well-being,' per the spa team. Rather than a classic massage or facial (although you can opt for such add-ons), the priority here is cultivating quality rest — 'when we sleep, our bodies undergo essential cellular repair, and without enough deep, restorative rest, this process is hindered. The result is not only fatigue and stress but also dull skin, increased signs of aging, and an overall sense of imbalance. This is an opportunity to reset, re-energize, and revitalize from the inside-out,' says Kirsten. Himalayan salt room, aromatherapy steam room, and rainfall-style shower facilities in the spa were designed by Yabu Pushelberg. The service features a zero-gravity bed to sleep on to reduce pressure on the joints and support the body's recovery progress. Then you don a pair of NormaTech Lymphatic Drain boots which the spa team says helps to ease muscle tension and detoxification. Guests also receive a NuCalm Disc patch — (which gained swift awareness and popularly due to Meghan Markle's endorsement of it) to place on your wrist, 'the proprietary blend of inhibitory neurotransmitters activates your parasympathetic nervous system via the Pericardium Meridian (per Traditional Chinese Medicine); it stops your acute stress response so that cellular restoration and relaxation can take place,' says the spa team. In layman's terms, the patch helps you 'calm down and chill out'. Coupled with the patch, the spa supplies you with a sleep mask and a unique NuCalm curated playlist to listen to AKA — binaural beats — which are Alpha frequencies (8 to 13 Hz) and Beta frequencies (14 to 30 Hz). The former is supposed to encourage relaxation, promote positivity, and decrease anxiety; the latter is supposed to increase concentration and alertness, problem-solving, and improved memory. Ultimately, Kirsten says that Biohacking results and respective effects are different for everyone, but that — as a general guideline — one hour of this service equates to at least four hours of sleep. Treatment rooms at the award-winning spa. Daniel Harpaz, Director of Public Relations at Fairmont Century Plaza has mapped out a 'Sleepcation' getaway in response to the successes of this spa service. Lavish rooms and suites designed by Yabu Pushelberg echo the soothing sanctuary of their award-winning spa. It features generously appointed spaces which start at 462 to 1937 sq. ft.), a residential ambiance, black-out curtains, plush pillow top mattresses, 300-thread count bedding, natural light (thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows), marble bathrooms, prime city-view balconies — all emboldened with natural zen-inducing tones. Fairmont King Guest Room. Additionally, the hotel is capitalizing on its historic reputation (as a property that has hosted Hollywood icons and state dignitaries) and prized location to further appeal to travelers, 'Fairmont Century Plaza's prime location is in the heart of Los Angeles, just a short walk from Beverly Hills and mere steps away from the renowned Westfield Century City (mall). Perfectly situated for exploring the city, the hotel is equidistant from Santa Monica's beaches and the cultural landmarks of Downtown, providing seamless access to top attractions.' Executive Chef Ramon Bojorquez spearheads the fare over at Lumière, which offers a taste of a traditional French-inspired fare with a Southern Californian twist. As a sign of the times — with mental/physical health as a primary driver of a travel these days — Harpaz says that while the hotel will always offer indulgence, that there's a holistic component embedded in all facets of the hotel, including its food/beverage programming (this is in response to it being a top priority for guests), 'our hotel's signature restaurant, Lumiére, is proud to support a variety of dining preferences and mindful eating habits, driven by fresh and seasonal ingredients. For those looking for something other than French onion soup and steak frites, the menu offers items such as fresh salads, seafood, chicken, and more,' he explains. He adds that over at the aptly named 'The Bar', they've included some thoughtful spirit-free options. Lastly, whereas in-room dining only used to offer the usual suspects (burgers, club sandwiches), now health-conscious options are available 24/7 (think grains and seeds bowl, avocado toast, and pick your protein). 'At Fairmont Century Plaza, we believe wellness is essential to the travel experience, not just in the Spa, but on our menus as well,' he adds. A historic award-winning property whose legacy stretches back to the 1960s. Those seeking their next 'Sleepcation' trip to Los Angeles can check-out the property's room package deals and limited-run offers for the best deals and savings. Currently, they're offering Spa Daze, Linger Longer (3rd night free), and April Moments of Zen (for a springtime reset) experiences.

It's about trying to outsmart the world's most complex, adaptable, evolved, and powerful computing system in the world - the human brain. You must respect the perfection of the human brain before you attempt to make it better. More than 30 years ago, Dr. Holloway began a quest to help people suffering from trauma without using narcotics. This mission led to 19 years of research, development, and clinical testing and ultimately a breakthrough technology platform named NuCalm that safely and predictably allows you to manage your mental states on demand. We do this through patented, clinically proven neuroacoustic software that naturally guides your brain waves to different frequencies: from the highest frequencies associated with peak mental state and concentration to the lowest frequencies associated with deep sleep. The biggest advantage to you is that this technology is all-natural, non-invasive, easy-to-use, and works every single time you use it. MEDIA CONTACTS:Jenny McIntoshjenny@ 480-202-7112 Laurie D.
