Trump knocks Senate Democrat: ‘I am not offering Iran ANYTHING'
President Trump knocked Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) on Monday for suggesting over the weekend that the Trump administration is considering entering into deal with Iran similar to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), struck under the Obama administration. 'Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike Obama, who paid them $Billions under the stupid 'road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!),' Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on early Monday. He added: 'nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities.' The remarks come after Coons discussed the U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in an interview on Fox News's 'Fox News Sunday.' He cited recent press reports suggesting the Trump administration is weighing a $30 billion deal with Iran that would allow for the development of civilian nuclear facilities. 'I'll just note that President Trump, by press accounts, is now moving towards negotiation and offering Iran a deal that looks somewhat similar to the Iran deal that was offered by Obama, tens of billions of dollars of incentives and reduced sanctions in exchange for abandoning their nuclear program,' Coons said in his Sunday interview. Trump — who brokered a ceasefire deal with Israel early last week — denied reports on Friday that he was considering such an agreement. 'Who in the Fake News Media is the SleazeBag saying that 'President Trump wants to give Iran $30 Billion to build non-military Nuclear facilities.' Never heard of this ridiculous idea,' the president wrote late Friday on Truth Social. 'It's just another HOAX put out by the Fake News in order to demean. These people are SICK!!!' he added. Iran open to nuclear talks if US rules out further attacks, official says
Iran's deputy foreign minister told the BBC on Monday that Tehran's leaders would be willing to resume diplomatic talks over the country's nuclear program if the U.S. agrees it will not launch any additional military strikes. 'We are hearing from Washington, telling us that they want to talk,' Iranian diplomat Majid Takht-Ravanchi said in an interview with the outlet. 'Right now, we are seeking an answer to this question: Are we going to see a repetition of an act of aggression while we are engaging in dialog?' 'They have not made their position clear yet,' he added. The U.S. launched strikes on three key nuclear facilities in Iran on June 21 as Tehran and Israel traded airstrikes, which paused ongoing U.S.-Iranian negotiations on a new nuclear agreement meant to prohibit Iran from obtaining a massive weapon. President Trump and his allies have touted the U.S. military operation as a success that will set back Iran's nuclear capabilities by years and repeatedly pushed back on a leaked initial assessment that questioned the scope of the damage. Trump on Monday denied that he had been in talks with representatives from Iran. 'I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike [former President] Obama, who paid them $Billions under the stupid 'road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!),' he wrote in a post on Truth Social, adding 'nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities.' Trump upended the Obama-era Iranian nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), during his first term. The U.S. and Iran had been in ongoing negotiations on a new agreement before Israel launched a surprise attack on Tehran's military and nuclear sites June 13. Takht-Ravanchi told the BBC that Iran would 'insist' on being able to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, which leaders there claimed they were doing before the attacks on their program. 'The capacity can be discussed but to say that you should not have enrichment, you should have zero enrichment and if you do not agree with bomb you? That is the law of the jungle,' Takht-Ravanchi said.

U.S. President Donald Trump denied making any offers to Iran and said "nor am I even talking to them" since his strikes on their nuclear facilities, in a post on his Truth Social platform. Trump was responding to comments made by Sen. Chris Coons, a Delaware Democrat, who noted to Fox News media reports that the president is moving towards a sanctions-relieving nuclear deal with Iran like the one negotiated by President Barack Obama. "Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike Obama, who paid them $Billions under the stupid road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!), nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities," Trump posted early on Monday morning. Trump scrapped the JCPOA-Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action-otherwise known as the Iran nuclear deal during his first term. He called it a terrible deal that handed an American enemy billions of dollars. The deal, agreed with Iran in 2015 after multilateral talks led by the Obama Administration, relieved some of the economic sanctions on Tehran, particularly around its oil trade, in exchange for greater international monitoring of its nuclear program.
