Mang Tomas, Jufran, UFC sauces removed from US FDA's import alert list
NutriAsia Inc., which manufactures Mang Tomas All Purpose Sauce, Jufran Banana Sauce, and UFC Banana Sauce, said Monday it has secured the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration to remove from the import alert list its reformulated products. NutriAsia said it received a letter from the US FDA dated May 16, 2025, indicating that it has successfully met the criteria to no longer be subjected to detention without physical examination (DPWE). A copy of the letter seen by GMA News Online indicated that while data showed that the products have met the criteria for removal from DPWE, routine coverage will resume and that this may be reinstated should detentions occur for the same or related reasons. 'We are very happy with the approval of our petition. I am sure that our Kababayans and the American consumers who have felt the absence of their beloved NutriAsia products are very happy as well,' NutriAsia president and chief operations officer Angie Flaminiano said in an emailed statement. To recall, the US FDA on October 25, 2024 published Import Alert 99-45, on the detention without physical examination of food products that are or contain an unsafe food additive, including variants of Mang Tomas All Purpose Sauce, Jufran banana and chill sauces, and Mother's Best mixes and sauces. NutriAsia in November said its reformulated products were shipped as early as August, and were then already going through the routine US FDA inspection. 'We followed the process and provided the documentation required to properly evaluate the actions we have taken to comply with the standards,' NutriAsia New Business Development and International Business head Mario Mendoza said in the same statement. 'With the removal of our products from the red list, consumers who may have missed our products in the past months can now look forward to uninterrupted supplies moving forward,' he added.— AOL, GMA Integrated News

NutriAsia brings comfort food to OFWs with Sinigang na Hipon recipe
Few dishes warm the heart like Sinigang sa Hipon—especially for Filipinos abroad craving that familiar asim-linamnam. This April, NutriAsia brings that taste of home to the spotlight, featuring UAE-based culinary expert Chef Ma. Dolores Blancio. In the latest episode of Masarap at Masayang Kwentuhan with NutriAsia, hosted by Romer Tesado, ka-TFTs are treated to a flavorful trip down memory lane. Chef Dolores walks viewers through her Sinigang na Hipon recipe using UFC Sinigang Sour Soup Mix—delivering the same bold sour-savory punch without the hassle of sourcing fresh tamarind or simmering broth for hours. She starts by boiling water in a large pot. 'Pag pinapakuluan, kailangan maliliit ang hiwa para mag-complement 'yung tubig, tomato, at onion—para lumabas 'yung natural na flavor,' she explains. Once the base flavors come together, she stirs in the UFC Sinigang Sour Soup Mix until fully dissolved. Next come the vegetables—eggplant, radish, and okra—gently simmered for five minutes. She enhances the broth with a dash of Datu Puti Patis, then blanches kangkong to lock in its crunch and color. Finally, the shrimp go in just long enough to soak up all that tangy, comforting goodness. The result? A nourishing dish bursting with flavor and Filipino nostalgia. After one spoonful, Romer couldn't help but exclaim: 'Ang sarap, ang asim. Nagising ako!' Paving the way for aspiring chefs More than a recipe, the episode also celebrates community and mentorship. With over two decades in Dubai, Chef Dolores continues to inspire OFWs and aspiring chefs, helping them carve out their own paths in the kitchen. 'Gusto namin maging inspirasyon kami na hindi sila mawalan ng pag-asa. Kung nag-start sila bilang taga-cut, minsan taga-linis ng kusina, sana hindi doon nagtatapos 'yung pangarap niyo,' she says, highlighting the mission of the PCA. From humble beginnings in the kitchen, she rose through hard work and heart. Her message to those just starting out: 'Wag na wag kayong titigil mag-aral, makinig, umattend sa mga seminar, at orientation.'

NutriAsia celebrates girl power in the kitchen with Paksiw na Isda recipe
NutriAsia's cooking show, 'Masarap at Masayang Kwentuhan with NutriAsia,' put the spotlight on empowered women as host Romer Tesado welcomed a special guest, Mrs. Grand Universe 2023 Yvonne Inventor Taneza, to share her comforting and flavorful Paksiw na Isda recipe. Romer kicked off the episode by highlighting how the kitchen isn't just a place for cooking—it's a space where love and traditions are passed down. Yvonne, a beauty queen, wife, and career woman, expressed how cooking has always been close to her heart. Without further ado, Yvonne introduced the ingredients for her Paksiw na Isda recipe, which included two pieces of cleaned fish, one knob of ginger, six cloves of garlic, one medium onion, three pieces of finger chili, salt, pepper, and water. But the key to achieving the perfect balance of sour and savory flavors? The right blend of Datu Puti Vinegar, Datu Puti Soy Sauce, and Datu Puti Fish Sauce. 'Ang key ingredient dito ay ang Datu Puti vinegar. Ito ang nagpapalabs ng distinct flavor ng paksiw. Dapat tama ang timpla para hindi overpowering ang asim,' Yvonne explained. To start, they placed the fish in a pot and added the garlic, ginger, and onion. Next, they poured in the Datu Puti Vinegar, Datu Puti Soy Sauce, and Datu Puti Fish Sauce, along with one cup of water. The dish was left to simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat without stirring—an important step to ensure the vinegar's acidity mellows into the dish. As they waited, Romer and Yvonne engaged in an inspiring conversation about women empowerment. Yvonne shared her advocacy as a beauty pageant. She said, 'My advocacy centers on creating opportunities for less privileged children in my hometown, Sultan Kudarat. I've been doing this for the past 10 years, and it's very fulfilling.' She also shared that she started from humble beginnings. 'If there's one thing that I want you to highlight is actually the time na I had to cross two rivers on foot just to go to school,' she shared, reminiscing her high school days. 'There are times na walang pamasahe, so kailangan naming mag-cross ng two rivers. Kasama ko yung kuya ko.' 'Yun talaga yung motivation ko na magpursige, and it made me stronger, so I'm really blessed,' she added. Yvonne also has a message to all the women watching her. 'It doesn't mean na may asawa ka na and at the same time, you're also working for a living, it doesn't mean that you can't do anything else,' she said. 'You can do a lot more,' she added. Back to cooking, Yvonne added salt and pepper and finger chili for a bit of spice before covering the pot for another five minutes. The aroma of the dish filled the kitchen, making Romer even more excited to taste the final product. 'Excited na akong matikman 'yan,' Romer exclaimed. Finally, the Paksiw na Isda was ready. As they plated the dish, Romer admired its rich and appetizing look. He eagerly took a bite and immediately praised the perfect blend of flavors. 'Mmm! Ang sarap! Sabaw pa lang, yung asim at saka yung alat, nagko-complement with each other. Tapos medyo maanghang pa dahil sa sili natin,' he exclaimed. 'Saktong-sakto yung timpla natin,' Yvonne added. As the show wrapped up, Romer encouraged everyone to try the recipe. 'Napakadali lang gawin. Siguradong magugustuhan ng buong pamilya,' he said. He also thanked Yvonne for the recipe that she taught him. 'Tama yan! Kaya sa susunod na episode, samahan niyo ulit kami for more masarap at masayang kwentuhan!' Romer added, closing another delightful cooking session with NutriAsia. With NutriAsia, cooking isn't just about making meals—it's about creating moments of love, strength, and connection. Just like Yvonne, every woman in the kitchen has the power to nourish not just the body but also the heart.

Cooking up love with UFC Banana Sauce and the perfect Filipino-style Picadillo
The spirit of love fills the air this month of February, and what better way to celebrate than through the universal language of food? Whether it's a cozy dinner for two or a lively gathering with friends and family, sharing a meal becomes a heartfelt expression of affection. In the latest episode of 'Masarap at Masayang Kwentuhan with NutriAsia,' host Romer Tesado is joined by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Joemar Tagala and Chinie Jane Ching. Together, they share their love for each other, their dedication to their professions and causes, and their passion for a simple yet flavorful dish: Filipino-style Picadillo. In making their version of the Filipino-style Picadillo, the ingredients included 1 ½ lbs. ground beef, 1 minced yellow onion, 4 minced cloves of garlic, 14 ounces diced tomatoes, ½ cup raisins, 1 cup beef broth, ¾ cup manzanilla olives, 1 cubed potato, 2 cubed carrots, ¾ cup frozen green peas, 3 tablespoons olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste. And, of course, for that nostalgic Filipino flavor, they used UFC Banana Sauce. 'Perfect ang UFC Banana Sauce for that tamis-anghang flavor. Staple na yan sa tahanan ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino,' Romer says. Just like Joemar and Chinie's love story, a perfect combination of two individuals from completely opposite professional backgrounds — Joemar as a seafarer and Chinie as a flight hostess — their love has withstood the test of time, enabling them to become the admirable individuals they are today. Chinie begins cooking the dish by first heating oil in a pan. She adds the minced garlic and onion, allowing them to sauté until fragrant and translucent. Next, Joemar incorporates the ground beef, stirring it well to break it apart and ensuring it cooks evenly. 'So, siya talaga ang hari ng kusina. Ikaw ay Disney princess,' Romer quips, to which Chinie cheerfully agrees. 'Ang comfort food ko talaga is may sabaw. At lahat ng may sabaw, kayang-kaya niyang lutuin 'yan,' Chinie proudly shares. That's why NutriAsia products will definitely never be missing from their kitchen, Joemar says, revealing that he also adds UFC Banana Ketchup to his adobo dish. Joemar then puts the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and raisins once the ground beef is golden brown, making sure to stir everything together to ensure the flavors blend well. Next comes the ¼ cup of UFC Banana Sauce. 'Mas lalong babango 'to kasi may UFC Banana Sauce na,' comments Joemar. While allowing the mixture to come to a boil, the couple was asked how they celebrated Valentine's Day, and although they were both busy, they were still able to have a simple dinner. 'Maliban sa Valentine's Day, anu-ano bang mga putahe pa ang niluluto nyo for other occasions?' Romer then asks. 'Syempre, hindi mawawala 'yung humba,' Joemar answers, to which Chinie quickly adds that it was during the time when Joemar first cooked humba for her that she told herself he was the one. Lastly, they add the remaining ingredients — potatoes, carrots, olives, and green peas — into the pot. They let the mixture boil for about 12 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften and absorb the rich flavors of the dish. Afterward, they season it with salt and pepper to taste. 'Ang bango! And the good thing here is marami pa rin siyang vegetables,' says Romer. 'Tama! Perfect for any meal — breakfast, lunch, o dinner! Tikman na natin!' says Joemar. Chinie comments that the Picadillo's perfect consistency is enhanced even further by the UFC Banana Sauce, which brings a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors. Of course, any dish made with NutriAsia products is not only a celebration of Filipino culinary heritage but also of love. Food indeed nourishes the body, strengthens relationships, and creates lasting memories that bring people closer together.
