Indigenous art expo to be held in Kochi this year, says Minister
'Gadhika', an exhibition of indigenous art forms and sale of indigenous products, would be held in Kochi this year, Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes O.R. Kelu said on Monday. He was speaking at the inauguration of a programme organised to celebrate International Museum Day here. The museum day celebrations were organised under the aegis of the Kerala Institute for Research Training and Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (KIRTADS) at the Ernakulam Tribal Complex. The Minister said it was important to protect and encourage indigenous culture, knowledge, and art forms. He also stressed the importance of the indigenous medical system and the world of knowledge spread by indigenous communities. Mayor M. Anilkumar presided over the event. Head of the Department of History at UC College Jenee Peter delivered the keynote address.

International Museum Day celebrations in Kochi on May 19
This year's International Museum Day celebrations will be held at the Ernakulam Tribal Complex on Monday (May 19) under the aegis of the Kerala Institute for Research, Training and Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Tribes (KIRTADS). O.R. Kelu, Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Devaswoms, will inaugurate the event, according to a press release. Members of tribal communities and scholars are expected to participate. Jenee Peter, Head of the Department of History at UC College, Aluva, will deliver the keynote address. The celebrations will also include a discussion on tribal heritage, the release added.
