They're expected to return to the Vandalia headquarters late Friday morning. The 47-person team spent three days conducting search and rescue missions in Martin and Floyd counties. They used bots and UTVs to access communities cut off by flood waters. The team also worked with search and rescue teams from Indiana and Missouri to assist with evacuations. Ohio Task Force-1 (OH-TF1) continues its mission in response to heavy flooding in Kentucky. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] OH-TF1 received orders to stage in Hazard, Kentucky in Perry County as they traveled to Frankfort on Sunday, according to social media. As previously reported by News Center 7, OH-TF1 was activated Saturday evening as a Type III team. 'They worked well past dark until rising water and debris made conditions too dangerous. They bedded down in Martin County and returned to work Monday morning. The team used boats to access the area and ATVs to move around as the roads are washed out,' they said on its Facebook page. OH-TF1 continues to assist many residents to evacuate and coordinate with the Kentucky National Guard and Kentucky State Police. Ohio Task Force 1 (OH-TF1) has been activated in response to heavy flooding in Kentucky and surrounding states. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] OH-TF1 was activated Saturday evening as a Type III team and will remain in 'a state of readiness' at their Vandalia headquarters until they are needed, according to a press release. STAY INFORMED: Churches cancel service ahead of wintry weather Task Force Leader Jim O'Connor will be the mission leader and the team will include 47 members including the water team. In addition to the Type III activation, Task Force Leader John Kaminski was activated as part of the Red IST group, according to the release. They will be heading to toward Cincinnati tonight. 'A powerful storm is bringing 'life-threatening' flooding in the eastern half of the United States this weekend, according to the National Weather Service,' the release read. The release also stated that heavy rain triggered flooding in southwestern Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky on Saturday, 'In response, dozens of rivers and streams in the region are expected to reach moderate to major flooding by early in the week,' the release read.
