The agreement was signed in the presence of deputy chief minister KV Singh Deo . The project represents a strategic approach to power management, designed to utilise surplus grid power for pumping water to an upper reservoir during off-peak hours. The stored water will be released during peak demand periods, contributing to grid stability and efficient power distribution.
The energy department posted on X that the project aligns with India's ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030. "The pumped storage system will play a vital role in managing power fluctuations and ensuring reliable electricity supply across the region," it said.
