Watch above for extended championship game highlights and interviews with Cardinals' coaches and players.
'I think this was the expectation was to get here. It was certainly a lot harder than we thought, I think West French is a heck of an opponent,' said Canfield head coach Andy Vlajkovich. 'They were really physical today, they scouted us well. I think the difference was just the mental toughness in that locker room.'
Canfield's Landon Shina scored a game-high 12 points in the championship victory.
'It means everything to win the championship, but that's two in a row and we want to keep it moving forward,' said Canfield junior Landon Shina. 'We came short last year in the regional finals and we want to keep it moving forward and take another step.'
Also, the Cardinal's Jake DeLisio scored six and Ben Weaver and Drew Shapiro each posted five in the win.
West Branch's Cooper Anderson scored a team-high 11 points in the loss. He was backed up by Gavin Gregory with eight and Joey Jackson with five points.
West Branch ends the season with an overall record of (13-12). Canfield advances to (21-4).
This is Cardinal's head coach Andy Vlajkovich's first district title as a head coach. He previously was an assistant with Canfield for last seasons title run.
Canfield plays next in the OHSAA Regional Semifinal at the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse on March 6.
