OceanLove Innovation Award Opens Nominations for Conservation Solutions
Rabat – The OceanLove Innovation Award has announced its 2025 edition, calling on innovators worldwide to submit ideas for ocean conservation. These include products, tools, campaigns, or initiatives that can make a real difference in conserving marine life and ecosystems.
Under the slogan 'Because you protect what you love,' the award encourages individuals to take action to safeguard the ocean. The nomination period runs from April 1 to September 30, said the organizers in a press release.
The award urged applicants to submit their ideas on the OceanLove website, and the winners will be announced on November 4 during the OceanLove Innovation Award Ceremony.
The OceanLove Innovation Award has been endorsed by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
In 2024, Moroccan environmentalist Saad Abid won the award with his project Chbika, a tool designed to capture micro-waste from beaches. He received €10,000 in seed money to develop his project further.
'The seed money and PR provided my idea a huge boost, and now OceanLove also arranged a whole lab with technical engineers from their partner DOER Marine to guide me further!' Abid remarked.
The organizers noted that Chbika is an effective and simple solution for local communities and environmental organizations. It also raises awareness about ocean pollution.
Abid has joined the panel of judges for the 2025 edition and has become a special ambassador for OceanLove.
A team of expert judges, including scientists, activists, and social entrepreneurs, will review all submissions based on 'originality, impact, reach, and feasibility,' added the statement.
Up to 30 of the best ideas will be selected for an online bootcamp, during which participants will receive support to improve their projects.
After the bootcamp, the judges will choose the final winners, who will receive up to €10,000 in seed money to bring their projects to life. In addition, winners will gain PR support and expert guidance. Tags: AwardOceanOceanLove
