Saudi Arabia Says Israel Shows ‘Extremism' by Blocking West Bank Visit

Reuters Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, attends the Ministerial Committee Assigned by the Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on Gaza as they meet in Amman, Jordan, June 1, 2025. AMMAN, June 1 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud said the Israeli government's refusal to allow a delegation of Arab ministers into the occupied West Bank showed its 'extremism and rejection of peace'. His statement came during a joint press conference in Amman with counterparts from Jordan, Egypt and Bahrain, after they met as part of an Arab contact group that was going to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. 'Israel's refusal of the committee's visit to the West Bank embodies and confirms its extremism and refusal of any serious attempts for (a) peaceful pathway .. It strengthens our will to double our diplomatic efforts within the international community to face this arrogance,' the Saudi minister said. On Saturday, Israel said it would not allow a planned meeting on Sunday that would have included ministers from Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, Palestinian Authority officials said. Bin Farhan's visit to the West Bank would have marked the first such visit by a top Saudi official in recent memory. An Israeli official said the ministers intended to take part in a 'provocative meeting' to discuss promoting the establishment of a Palestinian state. Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said blocking the trip was another example of how Israel was 'killing any chance of a just and comprehensive' Arab-Israeli settlement. An international conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, is due to be held in New York on June 17-20 to discuss the issue of Palestinian statehood. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said the conference would cover security arrangements after a ceasefire in Gaza and reconstruction plans to ensure Palestinians would remain on their land and foil any Israeli plans to evict them. Commenting on blocking the visit, Israeli Arab lawmaker Ayman Odeh said the Arab foreign ministers' delegation aimed to end the Gaza war, enhance the Palestinian Authority's role, and support a Saudi-French U.N. initiative to set up a roadmap for a Palestinian state Odeh told Saudi state-owned Al Arabiya Television that the Saudi-French initiative could lead to broader international recognition of a Palestinian state, a move he said contradicts Israeli government policy. According to Odeh, the Israeli government seeks to undermine the Palestinian Authority because it views it as the 'nucleus of the Palestinian state.' He said Israel blocked the Arab foreign ministers' visit because it could have helped strengthen the Palestinian Authority. Israel has come under increasing pressure from the United Nations and European countries that favour a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, under which an independent Palestinian state would exist alongside Israel.

Odeh: Majority of both Israelis and Palestinians want war to end

A majority of both Israelis and Palestinians want the war to end, Hadash-Ta'al MK Ayman Odeh said at the Israel Bar Association annual conference in Eilat. A majority of both Israelis and Palestinians want the ongoing war to end, Hadash-Ta'al MK Ayman Odeh said on Wednesday at the Israel Bar Association annual conference in Eilat. 'When I saw the number 600 [days of war], I actually recalled the Six Day War,' Odeh said. 'Because back then, both in '48 and '67, one people went out happy and felt victorious, and another people felt defeated. 'But today, if you ask most Israeli citizens and most Palestinians, they will say they wish the days since October 7 had never happened. The majority on both sides does not want this situation,' he said. Odeh emphasized what he said was the futility of the bloody and prolonged war and the failure of the political leadership. 'What is the political achievement? Please tell me. There is none. Therefore, after this war, we must tell the right wing, 'Your path has failed. You have no vision, no direction.' This is the right thing to say, and it must be said in the clearest way possible.' In his remarks, the MK highlighted what he described as the human perspective he has maintained throughout: 'I do not want a single child, neither Jewish nor Palestinian, to be killed; that is the main thing. There are those who want me to see only one side; that will not happen. I will see both sides, the pain of the Israelis and the pain of the Palestinians.' Yair Golan also participated in the conference. The Democrats chairman created an uproar last week when he said, 'A sane country does not kill children as a hobby,' and was unable to deliver remarks at a conference in Beersheba on Tuesday due to heckling and protests. 'I have never spoken against IDF soldiers and never will. On the contrary, IDF soldiers, through their heroism, have already achieved an extraordinary accomplishment in May-June of last year. We completed the elimination of Hamas's military power, and a diplomatic move should have been built upon that to free the hostages and establish a broad regional agreement,' he said. Regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Golan said, 'Instead of fighting against lies and incitement, he amplifies them. This is organized incitement. The Israeli public must mobilize and push for early elections. Elections are the order of the day to save the country.' He added, 'A government that harms national security, crushes the economy, and tears society apart from within cannot continue to rule. It incites, divides, and turns good citizens into enemies. Netanyahu built his power on division; it is time to turn the page. 'We need a government that reconnects all parts of the nation, rehabilitates the Gaza border region and the North, addresses the economy and education, and sets new national goals instead of living in fear.'

Israeli Airstrikes Claim at Least 5O Civilians in Northern Gaza

At least 50 civilians were martyred and dozens more injured or missing following a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Jabalia refugee camp and Jabalia al-Balad in northern Gaza early this morning. Palestinian Civil Defense teams rushed to multiple bombing sites where families were targeted, including the Muqbil family in Jabalia al-Balad, al-Qattanani on al-Ajarmah Street, and several others throughout the area. Rescue workers reported recovering numerous bodies and injured survivors from beneath collapsed buildings. Harrowing scenes unfolded at the Indonesian Hospital, where victims' bodies lay on the ground, revealing the magnitude of the destruction. Additional casualties were reported when Israeli forces struck apartments belonging to the Odeh and Khalil families near Al-Yassin Mosque. Israeli warplanes bombed the Al-Bakri family home east of Khan Younis, southern Gaza. — Quds News Network (@QudsNen) May 14, 2025 The attacks coincided with evacuation orders issued for residents across several northern Gaza neighborhoods, suggesting a coordinated campaign of forced displacement. Medical sources report that since midnight, 66 Palestinians have been killed across Gaza, with 50 deaths concentrated in the northern region. Israeli aggression continued elsewhere, with strikes reported in Nuseirat camp, Khan Yunis, and Al-Fakhari. In the Al-Mawasi area, an entire family was martyred when their tent was bombed. The Al-Ghannam family—father, mother, and two daughters—perished in the attack. The Israeli occupation forces continue their open war on the Gaza Strip for the 58th day since its resumption, 586 days after the start of the aggression. This war is backed by American political and military support, amid international complicity and silence regarding the genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people. BREAKING: At least two children were confirmed killed following an Israeli bombardment east of Khan Younis, according to medical sources. — Quds News Network (@QudsNen) May 14, 2025 The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 2,680 citizens have been killed and 7,680 others injured, the majority of them women and children, since March 18. Thus, the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, has risen to 52,808 martyrs, 119,721 wounded, and more than 14,000 missing, amid widespread destruction of infrastructure, homes, residential facilities, and service facilities across the Strip.
