Andhra Pradesh Minister Narayana visits waste-to-energy plants in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has embarked on a study tour to inspect waste-to-energy (WTE) plants in other States, aiming to replicate the best models back home. On Monday (June 9, 2025) night, he visited the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's WTE facility in Maharashtra, according to information provided by the Office of the Minister in Amaravati on Tuesday (June 10, 2025).
Officials informed the Minister that the plant generates 14 megawatts of electricity daily from municipal waste and also produces biogas, showcasing a dual-benefit energy model. Minister Narayana closely reviewed the plant's performance metrics and energy consumption patterns.
As part of Andhra Pradesh's strategy to establish two new WTE plants soon, the State Government is evaluating successful projects across India. The Minister's visit is intended to assess operational efficiency, waste handling practices, and sustainable energy output.
Today, Minister Narayana is scheduled to visit similar facilities and waste management systems in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He is accompanied by Swachh Andhra Corporation Managing Director Anil Kumar Reddy and other senior officials
