Fairgrounds vandal dumped nails, broke glass on roadway: Petaluma police

(KRON) — The Petaluma Police Department is asking community members to remain vigilant as it investigates a wave of vandalism incidents at the Petaluma Fairgrounds that started in mid-April. Double stabbing suspect sought by Concord police PPD said on April 17 an unknown suspect broke a window of the livestock office that had been repaired from a previous attack. In the second incident on May 4, police said a suspect dumped several two-inch nails and broke glass on the roadway near new pickleball courts at the fairgrounds. The debris was discovered and cleared by the property manager before any vehicles were impacted. Two days later on May 6, police said a suspect shattered the window of the livestock office at 8:20 p.m. with what looked like a hammer. The suspect was captured on surveillance video while wearing all dark clothing with a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a plastic bag. Petaluma police said the damage and repair costs make the vandalism a felony. Photo courtesy of Petaluma Police Department. 'Officers have been conducting extra patrols of the Petaluma Fairgrounds and we have been deployed video surveillance cameras in the area,' said Petaluma police in a news release. 'In coordination with other city departments, efforts are underway to further enhance security, prevention, and detection measures on the Petaluma Fairgrounds.'
