Explosions, gunshots expected around WPAFB, Springfield-Beckley
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A training exercise preparing for potential 'real-world emergencies' is scheduled for two local areas. From May 2 to 4, officials will be training at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Springfield-Beckley Air National Guard Base. Postal carriers to collect 'Stamp Out Hunger' donations 'This is a routine exercise to ensure all airmen assigned to the wing are prepared for any scenarios they might encounter and know what procedures to take in the event of real-world emergencies,' said the 178th Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard. If you hear gunshots, explosions or notice an abundance of aircraft in the area, you are urged to not call 911 to report it. It is most likely associated with the training. Why fighter jets may be flying near Columbus and Dayton, Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Residents in parts of southern and central Ohio could see or hear fighter jets flying over their homes Wednesday morning. According to the 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard, it will conduct an air defense exercise Wednesday, between 8 and 10:30 a.m. in and around the Dayton and Columbus areas. Why tornado sirens are going off across Ohio on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 Residents may hear or see fighter jets in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol Aircraft, which will be taking on the role of a Track of Interest (TOI). A TOI is an aircraft that has been identified as a potential threat. The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate response and coordination procedures and while scheduled for Wednesday morning, the exercise flights could be relocated, delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather.
