Evergreen Garden Club gears up for summer with events and new leaders
The Evergreen Garden Club is making plans for Gardeners Day Out at Yellow Finch Gardens on July 14. This was one of the items the club discussed during its most recent meeting, according to an announcement.
During the meeting May 19, club members planted four large planters before moving to Pat Lytle's garage for the annual plant sale. Sixteen members attended and presented planting plans for the year.
Concerns about wildlife bird flu were raised at the recent regional meeting of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs (OAGC), which was attended by members Linda McHenry, Susan Shoup and Kathy Nussbaum. It was recommended that bird feeders and bird baths be sanitized weekly to reduce the spread of the disease.
Flyers were distributed for the OAGC Region 14 luncheon in August at Bee Barn Flowers and Plants in North Lawrence. The OAGC state convention is set for Aug. 17-19.
The club also voted unanimously for upcoming officers including President Caroline Markley, Vice President Katie Nussle, Secretary Taylor Ewing and Treasurer Joyce Winget.
The meeting also included a discussion about donating a book to the library in memory of Doris Zaugg.
