Edmond police officer stabbed after traffic stop altercation in stable condition
An Edmond police officer is now in stable condition after being stabbed at least twice during a traffic stop.
According to a post from the Edmond Police Department, an EPD officer conducted a routine traffic stop near W 15th St. and Broadway Ave. at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.
During the traffic stop, a physical altercation started, which resulted in the officer being stabbed at least twice. Backup officers arrived, tased the suspect and took him into custody.
From there, the officer was transported to Oklahoma University Medical Center and admitted to the hospital in stable condition. The department did not immediately identify the driver involved in the incident.
EPD said this is still an active investigation, and more information will be shared when appropriate.
