What's in the Capital Improvements Budget?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Council unanimously approved the Capital Improvements Budget from fiscal year 2025-2026 through fiscal year 2030-2031, which includes everything from road safety improvements to library expansions. In Hermitage, new sidewalks and other traffic calming measures are coming to Old Hickory Boulevard. Metro also plans to renovate the Old Hickory Art Center Park and add new pavilions, an arts education area and more. Neighborhood News: Stories impacting your community | Read More The Metro Council set aside almost $2 million for the addition of streetlights on Murfreesboro Pike from Briley Parkway to Faircloth Lane. Another roadway that will see some improvements is the widening of Antioch Pike. In Antioch, Metro set aside money to widen parts of Antioch Pike and add new streetlights on Murfreesboro Pike. In East Nashville, you can expect some library upgrades. Metro has plans to build a $6.5 million addition at the East Branch library. It'll house an entrepreneurship center, youth study space, and have room for different library collections. Outside of the city's neighborhoods, the budget also has room for improvements to the Cumberland River Greenway. Major improvements will come to the Taylor Street Connector. Additionally, streetscape improvements will come to Gallatin Pike — to the tune of $37,200,000. Funding was also approved for WeGo bus routes 56 and 4, as they will get new benches and covers. Another precinct coming to Murfreesboro Road saw an approved $5 million in funding. The budget left some room for fun, too. The Music City Children's Museum is slated to receive $40 million.
