Liverpool REJECTED in centre-back contract talks
It's no secret that Liverpool are preparing moves at centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window. Virgil van Dijk has been secured to a new contract until 2027 but all around him there is uncertainty in the department. We could see Ibrahima Konate leave - with a contract expiring in 2026 and no breakthrough yet reached over a new deal. If Liverpool do not succeed in tying the French defender to the club this summer then he could well be moved on. Advertisement Jarell Quansah, meanwhile, is attracting significant transfer interest despite falling out of Arne Slot's plans. The homegrown defender is a target for up to six Premier League clubs while reports in Germany have also linked him to the Bundesliga. Joe Gomez too is unsure of what the future holds. The 28-year-old is Liverpool's longest-serving player but is currently injured and was deemed transferrable last summer. It's not inconceivable that all three senior centre-back options aside from Van Dijk leave in the off-season, necessitating a complete rebuild for Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes. Liverpool seeking centre-back reinforcements Potential candidates to arrive include Jorrel Hato, Marc Guehi and Piero Hincapie - with Liverpool requiring numbers and quality at the back. Advertisement The fees needed to land those stoppers could spiral out of control and there are indications that the Reds made a play for bargain reinforcements ahead of the window opening. TBR Football is claiming that Liverpool have held conversations with PSV mainstay Olivier Boscagli in the past few weeks. ps The Frenchman is out of contract this summer with the Eredivisie title winners and has established himself as one of the best players in the division over the last couple of seasons. Liverpool miss out on Olivier Boscagli He played 30 times for the Eindhoven club this season in the league - as well as impressing in the Champions League, where he captained his side to a victory over the Reds in January. Advertisement The 27-year-old has been attracting significant transfer interest due to his status as a free agent, with several Premier League clubs including Liverpool said to be interested. 'Liverpool, Tottenham and Bournemouth have all had conversations with the PSV Eindhoven defender and his camp in recent weeks,' reads a report. However, there is set to be transfer frustration for all of those parties with the revelation that it is Brighton who are going to announce Boscagli's signature for next season.

Brighton set to sign Olivier Boscagli in Bosman move
Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement to sign Olivier Boscagli from PSV Eindhoven, according to talkSPORT. The 26-year-old centre-back made 30 league appearances for PSV en route to securing the Eredivisie title last time out courtesy of a final-day 3-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam. Establishing himself as a pivotal figure since his transfer from OGC Nice in 2019, Boscagli has attracted a decent level of transfer interest in recent years. Brighton's pursuit of Boscagli dates back to last summer when they had an £8.5 million bid rejected by PSV, who were keen to keep hold of one of their biggest assets. Nonetheless, Brighton remained steadfast in their quest to lure the player and kept constant contact with him during the final year of his deal at the Philips Stadion. Boscagli had multiple contract renewal offers from PSV, all of which were rejected, opening the door for a free transfer. Despite the best efforts of ex-teammate Jordan Teze who was keen on a reunion at Monaco, Boscagli will now be moving to the AMEX Stadium. Boscagli was in action for PSV for all three of their Champions League games against English opponents this term as the Dutch side defeated Liverpool 3-2 in the group phase, before falling to a comprehensive 9-2 aggregate defeat over two legs to Arsenal in the round of 16. The Frenchman is expected to be one of many arrivals on the South Coast this summer, with Brighton also eyeing a move for Botafogo's Cuiabano. Capable of playing as a centre-back or left-back, Boscagli's versatility as well as his proficiency in ball distribution will come in handy for Fabian Hurzeler as the German manager prepares for his second year in charge. Hurzeler will be looking to build upon a decent debut year as his side close in on an eighth-place finish after claiming a 3-2 victory over Liverpool in their penultimate Premier League game. The Seagulls just about remain in contention for European football next season but will need results elsewhere to go their way heading into their season finale against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Albion poised to sign top target - as a free agent
Albion are poised to sign one of their top targets – on a free. Olivier Boscagli will head to the Amex this summer when his contract at PSV expires. Boscagli has been a target for the Seagulls in the recent past as they look to freshen up their defensive ranks. It was reported they offered up to £8.5 million for his services last summer. The 27-year-old played 30 matches for the Eindhoven outfit this season as they pipped Ajax to the title in a dramatic run-in. Boscagli fits the requirement of a left-footed and left-sided central defender and had six assists in the Eredivisie this season, as well as goal. Born in Monaco, he has represented France at the youth level up to under-21. He played for Nice and Nimes in the south of France before really forging his reputation in the Netherlands.
