Sagapixel: GLP-1 Surpasses Ozempic in Search Volume, Signaling a New Era in Patient Awareness and Provider Strategy
CHERRY HILL, N.J., May 27, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- New data from digital marketing agency Sagapixel reveals that public interest in the term 'GLP-1' has officially surpassed search volume for 'Ozempic' — marking a fundamental shift in how patients discover and research weight loss medications. As of Q1 2025, searches for 'GLP-1' now average over 3 million monthly queries, outpacing Ozempic, which has declined from its peak of 6 million in early 2024. This shift reflects a more informed, comparison-driven consumer base and growing awareness of GLP-1s as a drug class rather than brand names. 'We're seeing patients graduate from asking about Ozempic specifically to asking about GLP-1 medications as a category,' said Frank Olivo, CEO of Sagapixel. 'This change has major implications for how providers market and educate.' Legal Pressures Accelerate the Trend Sagapixel has advised many of its clients to remove mentions of 'semaglutide' from their websites due to legal threats from Novo Nordisk. These restrictions made it difficult to rank organically for a term that consumers were searching. 'It was a real concern,' Olivo added. 'But with this shift to 'GLP-1' as the dominant search term, we now have a safer, high-volume keyword that still connects providers with patients.' What's Fueling the Growth in GLP-1 Searches?Sagapixel attributes the trend to several forces: Heavy mass media advertising from companies like Hims and Ro, with Hims reportedly spending nearly half its revenue on marketing. Social media and wellness influencer coverage, along with reporting in outlets such as Vogue, Men's Health, and The New York Times. Consumer confusion over drug options like Zepbound and tirzepatide, prompting searches like 'Best GLP-1 for weight loss.' Clinic-level marketing shifts, as providers reframe services around 'GLP-1 weight loss programs' instead of brand names. How Providers Should RespondSagapixel recommends that clinics and providers: Adopt GLP-1-focused messaging instead of brand-specific pages. Optimize SEO and ads around class-level terms like 'GLP-1 injections near me.' Create compliant, educational content that positions their practice as a guide through the evolving weight loss medication landscape. 'This isn't just a marketing trend — it's a signal that patients are more informed, and they expect more,' said Olivo. 'Providers who adapt to this new language will build trust and grow faster.' Frelwin Taculog delivers with double-double as EAC sweeps LPU
NCAA By BEA MICALLER,GMA Integrated News Frelwin Taculog continued to be the bright spot in Emilio Aguinaldo College's tough journey in NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball, steering his side to a morale-boosting 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 win over Lyceum of the Philippines University on Sunday at the EAC Sports and Cultural Center in Manila. The 22-year-old outside spiker delivered with a double-double outing of 17 points anchored on 14 attacks, two blocks, and one ace together with 22 receptions as the Generals improved to 5-10. Despite the win, though, EAC, last year's runner-up, is already out of contention. Still, the Generals are making sure to give their best in every game. That was the case against the Pirates, where EAC didn't leave any stone unturned as they shattered a 6-all deadlock with Taculog capping a 7-3 rampage with a strong ace, giving the Generals a 13-9 cushion. Joshua Olivo then smashed one from the left wing to make it a 16-12 advantage before EAC's net defense punished LPU after Taculog secured a rejection to extend their lead to 20-15. Middle blocker Michael Gela then notched two consecutive blocks to deliver the match point at 24-20 before Jun Edang provided some life to the struggling LPU, 21-24. Olivo's cross-court attack was initially called beyond the line, but a ball in/ball out challenge by the Generals was called successful as EAC completed the sweep win. Olivo and Gela both tallied 13 points while Kenenth Catiancila chipped in eight markers. Edang, who missed their previous game against San Beda, returned and led the way for LPU with 19 points and four digs. —JKC, GMA Integrated News

Boy, 17, charged in murder of future Navy recruit, 18, outside NYC afterparty: cops
A 17-year-old boy was busted in connection to the Bronx murder of another teen who was 'full of life' and had high hopes of joining the Navy, cops said Friday. The younger teen was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the Feb. 2 early-morning murder of Juan J. Pena, 18, on Park Avenue near East 176th Street in the Tremont neighborhood, cops said. The teen was busted on Feb. 18 and charged as an adult, though his case is proceeding in the youth part of Bronx Supreme Criminal Court. A judge granted him supervised release and ordered him to use an electronic monitoring device as the investigation unfolds, prosecutors said. 'We asked for the defendant to be placed on supervised release with electronic monitoring pending further investigation and gathering more evidence,' a spokeswoman for the Bronx District Attorney's Office said in a statement. Others may have been involved in the slaying, sources said. The NYPD initially released photos of three young men in connection to the deadly shooting. Investigators initially believed the shooting stemmed from a spat outside an afterparty, sources said at the time. A black sedan pulled up to the venue, where someone inside exchanged words with the victim before opening fire, according to the sources. Juan – who was rushed to a local hospital only to succumb to his injuries – graduated from the Bronx Leadership Academy High School last summer and was planning to join the Navy, according to his family. 'I want justice for my son,' the slain teen's mother, Anayeli Pena, told The Post in Spanish Tuesday. 'They didn't kill a dog, they killed a son with a future, with a bright future. I don't want his death to go unpunished.' 'Justice is the only thing I can ask for,' she added. 'What else can I ask for? I want them to pay for what they did to my son. They didn't kill a dog. They killed a young boy full of life. They killed him, and they also killed me alive.' Juan had two sisters and one brother and lived with his stay-at-home mother. He was not a troublemaker and didn't have any enemies, according to his aunt, Shery Olivo, 35, a Dominican author. Olivo recalled the moment that her nephew visited her just three days before his tragic death. She recalled her nephew telling her, 'Tia, I'm good, I'm going into the Navy, I'm happy. I just took an exam.' Olivo said she told him, 'That's the best thing you could do and I am proud of you and I know you are going to be a great soldier and a hero.'

I was thankful that he was okay, and we just sat down for a few minutes and just got to know each other,' said Olivo.
