A man will wear a wedding dress for part of a 24-hour charity golf challenge. Ollie Spry is taking part in a golf session to raise money for Cancer Research UK Jersey. While the wedding dress is just one of the "ridiculous outfits" Mr Spry plans to wear, it will not be the only unconventional thing he does on the course at La Moye Golf Club. He also plans to hit the ball with a variety of unusual objects, including a croquet mallet and a frying pan. He said: "I just thought it was a bit of a laugh and to raise as much awareness as possible." People visiting St Helier this week might have seen Mr Spry in his wedding dress near Charring Cross ahead of the event, which takes place on Friday. Mr Spry said: "Obviously its quite a showstopper for people walking by in the middle of the High Street." He said the outfit had helped raise awareness for the charity, with people stopping to ask: "You look ridiculous why are you wearing that?" Mr Spry, who has been training by going on some "long walks", has raised more than £2,000 so far and hopes to reach £5,000. "There are so many amazing charities here in Jersey," he said. "The community here in Jersey is incredible - everyone comes together, everyone tries to support as many charities as possible. "I'm just proud to try and raise as much awareness as possible."
