QOC Secretary-General meets with Oman NOC Secretary-General
H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), on Wednesday met with Abdullah bin Muhammad Bamkhallaf, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic Committee and President of the Oman Table Tennis Association, who is currently visiting Doha. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation between the Qatari and Omani Olympic Committees and explored ways to enhance it in the coming period, in a manner that supports the progress of joint GCC sports initiatives and promotes the exchange of expertise in sports administration and development programs. The two parties emphasized the importance of continued cooperation among GCC Olympic Committees to further support athletes and strengthen the institutional foundations of sport in the region, in alignment with the aspirations of the Olympic Movement. The Omani official praised Qatar's outstanding organizational success in hosting the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships – Doha 2025, stating that this achievement reflects Qatar's leading position on the global sports map and its ability to deliver a comprehensive model for hosting major international events.

Bamkhalif ITTF member for 2nd consecutive term
MUSCAT: In a significant milestone for Oman's table tennis, Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamkhalif, Chairman of Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) re-elected as a member of International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Council for the next four years. The election took place during the ITTF General Assembly which took place on Tuesday night in Doha city, Qatar. This marks Bamkhalif's second consecutive term on the ITTF council, reaffirming the international confidence in his leadership and contributions to the sport. In the same election, Sweden's Petra Sörling was re-elected as ITTF President for a second term, narrowly defeating Qatar's Khalil al Mohannadi with 104 votes to 102. The Annual General Meeting registered procedural complaints and scenes of disorder which forced the ITTF's annual congress to be abruptly suspended. The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the General Assembly by a delegation led by Bamkhalaif, along with Vice-President Sajad bin Mohammed al Lawati and Board Member Samira bint Shanain al Shukaili. The assembly addressed a wide range of topics aimed at advancing the development of table tennis across all the conclusion of the meetings, Bamkhalif expressed his gratitude, as he said:' We are deeply honored by the trust placed in us by the Chairmans and representatives of national associations around the world. Being re-elected to the ITTF council is a responsibility we do not take lightly. We will continue our dedicated efforts to promote the growth and development of table tennis globally and to strengthen international partnerships between the ITTF and its member federations.' 'Oman's representation within the highest governing body of global table tennis is a matter of great pride. This achievement will greatly benefit the sport within the Sultanate of Oman, allowing us to draw on the ITTF's expertise and resources to expand the game's reach and improve performance.
