Nizwa: Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, met on Wednesday with a number of commanders of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) at the Officers' Institute of the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in Nizwa. The meeting was attended by Hassan Mohsin Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs. During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah reviewed the foundations, current state, and future prospects of Omani media, emphasising its role in strengthening national security. He highlighted the importance of security media in conveying police messaging and the media's approach to various events and emergency situations. He also touched upon governorates media, foreign media, the Government Communication Center, and the roles of the Directorate General of Publications and Artistic Works. He affirmed that Omani media is rooted in national values and principles, reflecting the nation's commitment to achieving comprehensive development goals, building national identity, and fostering social cohesion. The minister noted that Oman Vision 2040 opens new horizons for media institutions to adopt modern technologies and enhance digital media content. He lauded the high level of coordination and cooperation between the ROP and various local media outlets.

Ministry of Information opens new theatre with artistic ceremony

Muscat – The Ministry of Information celebrated the grand opening of its new theatre this evening with an artistic ceremony attended by H E Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Harrasi, Minister of Information, alongside dignitaries, officials, media professionals, artists, and cultural enthusiasts. The event featured a captivating concert presented by the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by the Royal Guard of Oman's Enthusiastic Chanting Team. Their performance blended traditional Omani national and heritage songs with a mix of musical compositions and Arabic songs. The orchestra and chanting teams showcased their talent on stage, harmonising with a range of instruments, highlighting the depth of Oman's cultural richness. A highlight of the ceremony was a hologram presentation titled 'Omani Media: A Return to the Roots,' which explored the evolution of Omani media. It traced the development of the country's media from press, radio, and television to modern digital platforms, emphasising its connection to heritage and knowledge exchange. Another visual presentation focused on the Ministry of Information's commitment to promoting Oman's values, humanitarian principles, and national message through trained media and technical professionals. The Ministry also highlighted its ongoing efforts to equip its staff with cutting-edge technologies and the achievements of its media outlets in 2024. The newly inaugurated Ministry of Information Theatre, designed to accommodate 500 people across 560 square metres, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The Ministry aims to use the theatre as a hub for arts and creativity, showcasing Oman's media, cultural, and artistic achievements, and further strengthening the country's cultural and media landscape.
