It was a full house of more than 500 people in attendance, at the Omni Hotel. Keith said it was great to be with chapter president Dori Dumas and state leader Scott X. Esdaile. Program Announcement for Annual ASPC Congress on CVD Prevention August 2025
Detailed Program Agenda Released for 2025 Scientific Sessions KINGWOOD, Texas, April 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The ASPC announces details of a full program of events to be held at their annual Congress on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, scheduled for August 1-3, 2025, at the Omni Hotel at the Seaport in Boston, MA. A new pre-conference course – ASPC Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Training Academy – is being offered to clinicians in training as a one-day comprehensive program designed to provide participants with a thorough introduction to preventive cardiology and will be held on Thu., July 31. This program was offered on an application process earlier this year. Selected applicants will be hosted by the ASPC for the duration of the Congress following the Training Academy. ASPC President, Dr. Michael Shapiro shares 'The launch of the ASPC Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Training Academy represents a critical step forward in shaping the next generation of preventive cardiologists. Our goal is to provide trainees with the foundational knowledge, clinical tools, and mentorship they need to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. The three ASPC honorees are: ASPC is looking forward to honoring these awardees during the opening session of the Congress on Friday, August 1 from 8:00 – 9:05 AM. The ASPC will collaborate with the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) to discuss Advances in Lipoprotein(a) Management during Session 3 on Friday, Augus 1 from 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM. Three rousing debates will be featured during Session 5 on Friday, August 1 from 1:30 – 3:30 PM and additional debates will continue on Saturday, August 2 during Session 6 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM: Other features of the Annual Congress on CVD Prevention include oral abstract presentations and over 200 abstract posters, expert theaters and symposia presented by industry sponsors, sunrise yoga, and an exhibit hall featuring 25+ preventive cardiology related organizations. ‘Fight For Air Climb' held at the Omni Hotel in Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Hundreds of people are climbing to the top of the Omni Hotel in Providence Saturday morning, raising money for a good cause. Participants for the 'Fight For Air Climb' will climb the 348 steps to the top of the building, all to benefit the American Lung Association. For the first responders, they will climb the stairs while wearing their gear. Right now, the event has raised more than $134,000. Harry Potter store opening Thursday on Chicago's Magnificent Mile
The Harry Potter store opens today on Chicago's Magnificent Mile. The store is moved into the retail space below the Omni Hotel on Michigan Avenue. It will have Chicago-themed merch and a butterbeer bar. Guests will also be able to get fun things like a personalized Hogwarts robe, wand, or acceptance letter. People camped out overnight to get in. One fan drove 12 hours from Delaware for the opening. "I've been a Harry Potter fan for a very long time, I'm also a potter collecter. So, just getting out here, being here for the opening day festivities and especially big MinaLima fan, which is the illustrators, they make an opening day print that you can get. So, really excited about that," Priscilla Peters said. The Mag Mile location is the second store in the country. The first one is in New York. The store will open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Dallas police evacuate Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center during national cheerleading competition
An incident led to a heavy police presence outside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on Saturday. The situation unfolded during the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All-Star National Championship, which began on Friday and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday at the venue. Dallas police confirmed on X that they are investigating an incident near the Omni Hotel and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. They advised the public to avoid the area. A family reunification center has been set up at Dallas Police Headquarters, located at 1400 Botham Jean Boulevard, police said. Brian Bianco, Senior Director of Strategic Communications for Varsity Brands, confirmed to CBS News Texas that NCA security officials are working closely with law enforcement to investigate the incident. "The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center has been evacuated as a precaution based on reports of a safety concern," Bianco said. "As a precaution, we have suspended activities for today and will continue to work with event staff and local authorities to ensure a safe environment when we resume the event."
