‘On Education' Review: An Alternative Curriculum at Amant

When it comes to timeliness, you'd be hard pressed to find an exhibition more aptly programmed than 'On Education.' The show at Amant opened on March 20—the same day that President Trump signed an executive order directing Education Secretary Linda McMahon to dismantle the Education Department. And while the 35 contemporary artists in the presentation may not share the Trump administration's feelings about the education system, they do bring unconventional perspectives to the subject, approaching it not as some egalitarian, liberating engine of meritocracy but as a deeply flawed, sometimes harmful power structure.
