IceHogs come up short in possible playoff preview against Grand Rapids Griffins
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — There is a good chance the IceHogs could be facing the Grand Rapids Griffins in the opening round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. If so, the Hogs will have to do better in that than they did Wednesday night at BMO IceHogs lost to the Griffins 2-1. The IceHogs only goal was scored in the third period by Paul Ludwinski when the Hogs had been trailing 2-0. Ondrej Becher and Sheldon Dries scored power play goals for the Griffins. Dries came in the second period when the Griffins had a 5-on-3 power play. The IceHogs spent a lot of time in the penalty box. They had nine penalties totaling 26 Commesso was in goal. He had 27 saves while allowing the two goals. The IceHogs will host the Griffins again Friday night. The IceHogs will face either Grand Rapids or the Chicago Wolves in the opening round of the highlights, watch the media player above.
