Bills QB Josh Allen 'very excited' about this new teammate

The Buffalo Bills have steadily been tinkering with short-term free agent deals at receiver in recent seasons to see if anyone sticks. That began to change a bit last offseason when the Bills signed Curtis Samuel to a three-year pact. Advertisement While the team has continued to add some talent and depth to the position this offseason, they also added another pass-catcher on a several year agreement. Former Charger Josh Palmer put pen to paper on a multi-year agreement with the club. After four years of playing with Los Angeles, and with experience as a passing game target for Justin Herbert playing behind receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Palmer will have a chance to bring his contributions to Buffalo. The Bills' newest target for QB Josh Allen totaled a minimum of 500 yards receiving in his last three years in L.A. That output matches and fits well with offensive coordinator Joe Brady's efficiency-based, even distribution of the football, in which targets are expected to make the most of their opportunities in a quality-over-quantity approach. Advertisement 'Very excited,' Allen said of his new teammate on offense. 'Excited to get to throw with him here pretty soon, very fluid in his routes, he creates a lot of separation, and there's a lot of advanced stats that show that. Seems like a great guy, he's a Toronto kid too, so I know that he's got a big following here, and for him to be closer to family, I know that's always a plus. 'But so far, just being around him, he's got a great personality, he's going to fit in that receiver room just great.' Palmer will play with Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Curtis Samuel in the receiver room, with other new additions like Laviska Shenault Jr. and Kaden Prather looking to compete for playing time behind them. Palmer adds speed and downfield playmaking as well as 10+ yards per reception on average during his four-year NFL career, which increased to 15.0 yards last season. Advertisement 'I've just been getting better every year. I feel like my first few years there with Keenan (Allen) and Mike (Williams), and my receiver coach out there, I was able to find my game and figure out what works and doesn't work,' Palmer said while appearing on One Bills Live 'I got to my second and third year and everything started to take shape. Last year was what it was, and now I'm here ready to explode.' This article originally appeared on Bills Wire: Bills QB Josh Allen 'very excited' about this new teammate Josh Palmer

Bills New Receiver Touts Versatility In Josh Allen-Led Offense

When the Buffalo Bills fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Title game last season, one of the big reasons they lost, according to some analysts, was the lack of a true No. 1 receiver. Pickings were slim for the organization to improve that group during both free agency and the draft. Advertisement But ... They were still able to come away with one of the better overall weapons in the offseason. Joshua Palmer, the veteran wide receiver from the Los Angeles Chargers, signed a free agent deal with the Bills to the tune of a three-year, $36 million agreement. Palmer had been a consistent receiving threat for the Chargers offense with Justin Herbert throwing him the ball. Now, he gets Josh Allen, the reigning league MVP as the person in charge of getting him the rock. With Buffalo returning most of their offense from last season, the addition of Palmer, and his versatility, makes the group even more powerful than they were over the last couple of years. Advertisement 'I pride myself a lot on playing every position on the field," said Palmer during an interview on One Bills Live. "So even when I train, I train in the slot, I train in the boundary, I train out wide because it's a whole different game in those three different spots. So I like to pride myself on knowing how to do all that." The organization will need to get the Toronto native Palmer integrated into the offense as quickly as possible at this point. With his skill set, though, there's hope that Palmer will be an immediate contributor to Buffalo's elite offense. And might be the last piece of the puzzle to get the organization past the Chiefs once and for all. Bills sign former second-round pick to give Josh Allen another weapon at wide receiver

Buffalo Bills general manager already believed the team's wide receivers were better than last year's group. He added another free agent on Wednesday. The Bills are signing wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, according to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports. Advertisement Moore, a former second-round pick, is 25 years old. He's played two seasons each with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. "Back in that red and blue. Time to go be GREAT. Grateful for the opportunity! Cant wait to meet BILLS MAFIA," Moore, who was a consensus All-American at the University of Mississippi, posted on X on Wednesday. The Bills have five wide receivers − Moore, Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Joshua Palmer and Laviska Shenault Jr., − who have caught more than 60 passes in a season. Buffalo has been in talks with Moore for weeks but the two parties took a wait-and-see approach to how the Bills addressed the wide receiver position in the NFL Draft. Buffalo didn't take a receiver until Maryland's Kaden Prather in the seventh round, No. 240 overall. Advertisement Moore visited the Bills' facilities with his wife on Monday. Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard (31) tackles Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore (8) during the third quarter in Cleveland, Ohio, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023. "If we took a guy in the first or second round, (Moore's) probably not too interested. But we didn't and so, you know, we picked up those conversations over the weekend," Beane said on the One Bills Live show Monday. "Nothing imminent today or anything like that, but a very good visit and we'll see where it goes." It went all the way to a done deal. Cleveland tagged Moore with the unrestricted free agent tender on Monday, which didn't prevent Buffalo from signing him but allowed the Browns to retain Moore's rights at a value of $3.428 million for 2025 if he didn't sign with another team by July 22. Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard (31) tackles Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore (8) during the third quarter in Cleveland, Ohio, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023. Moore has speed and can separate and can play outside or in the slot. He has 200 receptions for 2,162 receiving yards and nine touchdowns receptions over his four-year career. Moore has caught at least 37 passes − including a career-high 61 in 2024 − and recorded at least 446 receiving yards in each season. The starting quarterbacks for the Jets and Browns during his career have been: Zach Wilson, Mike White, Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, P.J.
