Malaysia Slips In Q1 Global Network Quality Index

Opensignal's latest Global Network Excellence Index reveals that Malaysia has dropped two places in the global ranking to 38th overall. However, it remains among the top 10 Asia-Pacific markets, surpassing Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. The Opensignal Global Network Excellence Index uses proprietary data to rank countries based on mobile network excellence. The index provides a real-world assessment of user experience, evaluating countries across three key areas: 4G/5G Availability: Measures the proportion of time users are connected to modern mobile networks, indicating the accessibility of mobile infrastructure. In the Q1 2025 update, which reflects data collected throughout the quarter, Malaysia's ranking for Excellent Consistent Quality also declined, falling four places to 62nd globally. This metric evaluates the network's ability to consistently support data-intensive applications. It was also reported recently, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil called for mobile network operators to improve their quality of service as complaints for poor service were on the rise again. The minister had called on the regulator MCMC to take stern action. Looks like the report by OpenSignal confirms on the drop in service by the operators. Related
