EgyptAir suspends Gulf flights amid Iranian retaliation - Urban & Transport
EgyptAir has suspended all flights between Cairo International Airport and several Gulf cities, citing escalating regional tensions and the closure of airspace in multiple countries across the Gulf.
In an official statement issued late Monday, the national carrier said the suspension will remain in effect until security stabilizes.
The decision comes shortly after Iran announced it had launched missile attacks on US bases in Qatar and Iraq in what it called Operation Bisharat al-Fath (Glad Tidings of Victory) — a retaliatory move following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Qatar's Ministry of Defense reported that its air defenses had intercepted a missile targeting Al-Udeid Air, with no casualties or injuries. In response, Qatar temporarily closed its airspace, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
EgyptAir stated that its Integrated Operations Center is monitoring developments around the clock and will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
