Officials: 30 arrested, 30 pounds of drugs seized in ‘Operation Uptown Funk'
HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – More than 30 people across western North Carolina and in the Upstate have been arrested as part of an investigation into drug trafficking.

According to Henderson County Sheriff's Office, authorities in Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, Transylvania, Greenville and Spartanburg counties, along with agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, recently concluded 'Operation Uptown Funk,' a year-long investigation which resulted in more than 30 arrests, 20 firearms and more than 30 pounds of drugs and being seized.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said it has identified two people, Tyrone Featherstone and Andre Whiteside, both of Hendersonville, as major sources of fentanyl, methamphetamine and other drugs into the region.
The sheriff's office said the duo were responsible for distributing drugs around Hendersonville and the surrounding areas, resulting in multiple overdoses.
The sheriff's office said detectives investigated numerous drug overdoses to track what it called a 'far-reaching' drug network.
On May 28, detectives executed 10 search warrants in Henderson, Buncombe and Greenville counties, finding 'trafficking levels' of cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
In total, more than 30 people from Henderson County have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
