A 39-year-old Mozambican national, who allegedly attempted to rape a 29-year-old South African woman, was caught and beaten by community members in Redcliffe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday 13 May. According to the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) residents contacted Operations Centre around 16:51, reporting that a mob was attacking a man on Valley View Drive. Reaction Officers responded swiftly and located the injured suspect, who had sustained blunt force trauma and whip marks to his head and body. The crowd fled before the first responders arrived. Officers interviewed several residents at a nearby informal settlement and traced the alleged victim to her home. She told officers that the accused entered her tuck shop and waited until all customers had left. He then allegedly assaulted her and dragged her into a room, where he attempted to rape her. Her screams reportedly drew the attention of nearby residents, who rushed to her aid. The suspect allegedly fled on foot, but community members gave chase. As more residents joined the pursuit, the crowd grew in size. They eventually caught up with the man on Valley View Drive, where they allegedly assaulted him before notifying RUSA. Reaction Officers handed the suspect over to the Verulam South African Police Service (SAPS). DURBAN- A man was repeatedly stabbed during a robbery that occurred on Venus Road in Riet River, Durban, on Sunday, 27 April 2025. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the man was repeatedly stabbed in his testicles and groin. Four men approached the man on his way back home from the tavern. 'The suspects produced knives and demanded cash. He was repeatedly stabbed in his testicles and groin after he refused to comply. The suspects stole R470 cash and fled the scene on foot,' said RUSA. The man returned to his residence where he contacted Operations Centre for assistance and was taken to a medical facility. The suspects have not been apprehended. Two men were stabbed in Redcliffe, KwaZulu-Natal over a dispute of Jackfruit suspected to have been stolen. The two men were found bleeding in a bush next to an unpaved road. According to RUSA, the two men were walking on Dawnview Drive when they noticed two males, suspected to be drug users, carrying a black refuse bag. 'They stopped the duo and questioned them about the contents of the bag. A dispute ensued after they established that the suspects were in possession Jackfruit suspected to be stolen from a farm.' 'The suspects produced a panga and a knife during the altercation. They repeatedly hacked & stabbed the two males,' said RUSA. The suspects abandoned the refuse bag and fled the scene.
