Ye And YoungBoy Never Broke Again Link Up For New Single 'Alive'
The only thing comparable to Ye's frequent controversial statements has been his sporadic music releases. The artist formerly known as Kanye West linked up with YoungBoy Never Broke Again this week for their new single 'Alive.' The track initially follows his recent string of unconventional releases, as it was not available on traditional streaming platforms. Instead, fans could only listen via a post on his Instagram account on Wednesday (May 21) or the several audio rips floating around the internet. On Thursday morning (May 22), he shared an Apple Music link for the record on X. 'This that ni**as been stealin' the swag, they know damn well they ain't invent/ This that ni**as ain't rich, they broke, want a blessing and they ain't even repent,' he raps to open the chaotic track. It is devoid of drums and snares production-wise, and rather loaded with rough, white noise-esque synths. 'I'll put the bi**h on and blick 'em, them youngins gon' load up and get 'em, they catch em and stretch 'em/ .223, it ain't missin' a beat, we gon' pray up to Heaven and step in eleven,' YoungBoy belts in his verse. Notably, the record samples DJ Swamp Izzo's 'Alive,' which was also recently flipped by Playboi Carti on 'Crank' from his latest album, Music. The 'Alive' sample is an interesting detail given Ye and Playboi Carti's current relationship, or lack thereof. The Chicago producer has frequently expressed his disdain for the enigmatic rapper ever since he was left off of the recent LP while Kendrick Lamar got three separate features. Things got even deeper when he learned that Carti had been trying to work on a song with his daughter North, and Kim Kardashian seemed willing to let it happen despite taking issue with Ye putting her on a song with Diddy. In an act of pettiness, the 'Timeless' artist shared his version of 'Alive' featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again without the multi-time Grammy winner. In a now-deleted post on his Opium account, he wrote, 'DIS MY SONG LIL BRA @ye.' The record was accompanied by a full music video, which may mean that West had underhandedly tried to beat Carti to the punch and put out his version first. Ye's 'Alive' follows his controversial 'Heil Hitler,' which has been removed from X and Soundcloud seemingly due to its problematic content. He has also teased his forthcoming record 'Cousins,' where he opens up about sexual activity with a relative, along with his upcoming album Cuck. Playboi Carti Puts Ye on Blast for Allegedly Using Unauthorized Sample on ‘Alive': ‘Dis My Song Lil Bra'
When Ye (formerly Kanye West) shared his 'Alive' collaboration with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, which samples Playboi Carti's 'Crank,' to his Instagram on Wednesday (May 21), many thought it signaled a truce between West and the Opium frontman, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Shortly after the embattled rapper shared 'Alive,' Carti dropped his version with YoungBoy and fired at Ye with his caption, claiming ownership of the track. 'DIS MY SONG LIL BRA @ye,' he wrote in the since-deleted post. More from Billboard Ye & YoungBoy Never Broke Again Flex on Their Detractors With Blaring Collaboration 'Alive': Listen Kneecap Respond to Terror Offense Charge: 'This is a Carnival of Distraction' BTS' Jin Returns to 'Fallon' With 'Don't Say You Love Me' Performance Billboard has reached out to the 'Stronger' rapper's camp for comment. It's unclear who had the track first, but streamer Sneako, who has been with Ye over the last month or so in Spain, claimed that it's Yeezy's and he made the beat for the track, which sounds like a sister of the blaring 'New Slaves' from West's Yeezus album. 'Ye made the beat, clearly,' claimed Sneako. 'If you listen to Carti's version, it's not good.' Ye — who has been criticized for his repeated hate speech the last few years — ended up releasing 'Alive' on Apple Music on Thursday morning (May 22), while Carti and YoungBoy have remained quiet. It's unclear whether Carti will take action, since 'Alive' samples DJ Swamp Izzo's version of 'Alive,' which is featured as part of Playboi Carti's 'Crank' track. Carti moved on quickly Wednesday and leaked another song titled 'Some More' on Instagram, but that post was also deleted. YoungBoy even shared a solo track called 'Finest,' so it ended up being a great day for hip-hop fans of the three artists. There have been instances where Ye has had issues with sample clearances in the past, as tracks from his Vultures album were removed due to unauthorized use, including 'Good (Don't Die)' for a Donna Summers sample. Yeezy and Playboi Carti's relationship soured earlier this year when the Atlanta rapper left Ye off his Music album and opted to invite guests including Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar into the fold. 'I DECIDED NORTH WONT BE DOING ANY SONGS WITH CARTI HOW IT LOOK FOR ME TO GET LEFT OFF THE ALBUM AND THEN HE ASK KIM TO HAVE VOCALS FROM MY DAUGHTER,' Ye wrote to X in March. Carti's response to that? 'YE STFU.' 'Kind-hearted' Dublin dad dies days after wedding as tributes pour in
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A Dublin has been plunged into grief as locals pay their respects to a young father who sadly lost his battle with cancer just days after getting married Dean Dunphy, a van driver from Ballyfermot, faced a heartrending diagnosis of stage four brain cancer, specifically glioblastoma, in August 2023 following signs similar to that of a stroke coupled with muscle spasms. Dean, 34, sadly died at Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday (May 21), just three short days after exchanging vows with his soul mate, Michaela, in an intimate and heartfelt ceremony surrounded by family and friends at Opium in the city centre. Little did the newlyweds know, behind the scenes, kind-hearted relatives had set up a €40,000 fundraising effort to help cover the wedding and healthcare costs, as the couple faced hardships with employment. Notably, esteemed professional fighter Conor McGregor stepped in, contributing a generous donation of €10,000 towards their plight, reports the Irish Mirror. Michaela and Dean's romance began in 2011 when he stumbled upon her Facebook profile and took a leap by adding her as a friend Their online relationship blossomed into real life as they agreed to meet at a party in March, paving the way for a deepening bond which saw them welcome their daughter Sloane into the world in 2021. Childhood ailments plagued Dean with persistent headaches and migraines but were brushed off by medics as "common". However, come June 2023, alarming muscle twitches began occurring out of the blue – even as Dean was navigating the motorway during work duties. (Image: Family handout/PA Real Life) Dean told Michaela that he felt like he had "no control of his body", prompting her to swiftly get him to their local A&E, followed by a transfer to another hospital. Initially, it was thought Dean might have Bell's palsy as it triggers paralysis or weakness on one side of the face, but this was ruled out after blood tests, scans, and examinations. Then, in July, the situation took a turn when Michaela got a call from the hospital revealing "they had found something on his brain". On August 24, 2023, which coincided with Michaela's 30th birthday, Dean underwent open brain surgery. The seven-hour operation proceeded smoothly as medics removed some tissue for biopsy. However, the following week brought heartache when the doctors delivered the devastating news that Dean had stage 4 brain cancer, more precisely glioblastoma. Not long after, Dean faced another surgical procedure to eliminate additional "active" cancerous tissue from his brain. Post-surgery, Dean embarked on chemotherapy and radiotherapy and, in August 2024, they managed to squeeze in a family getaway to Spain with the doctors' approval. Their holiday was cut short due to Dean's rapidly worsening condition, forcing them to dash back as his symptoms escalated "from zero to 100". Back home, medical staff detected brain swelling and commenced a more aggressive chemotherapy regimen along with a "blocker treatment" to stall the tumour's growth. Dean persevered with treatments to keep his symptoms at bay while regularly attending three-month check-ups as he and Michaela forged ahead with their wedding plans. The couple tied the knot in an emotional ceremony just days before Dean tragically passed away, leaving behind a heartbroken family and circle of friends. The father-of-one died 'peacefully in the arms of his wife Michaela and surrounded by his loving family at Beaumont Hospital', as stated in a heart-wrenching death notice on Touching tributes have been flooding in for the beloved lad, hailed as "one of life's absolute gentlemen", remembered for his laughter and kindness which deeply impacted many. In an online post, a friend of Dean's wrote: "Earlier today the sad news broke of the very untimely passing of one of life's absolute gentlemen. At times words can express the extreme sadness felt by so many at the passing of one so highly regarded by all that knew and loved them but on this occasion I know I can sincerely say that no words can convey the sadness of each and every human being that knew Dean Dunphy myself included. "What I can say is that this is one gentleman I am proud and privileged to have known and work along side through thick and thin for years and he will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to his wife, daughter and extended family." A family friend also took a moment to express gratitude towards those who supported the GoFundMe campaign set up for Dean's family, writing: "Several weeks ago, a GoFundMe was launched for Dean Dunphy and his family. "Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, Dean and his childhood sweetheart, Michaela, were able to exchange vows in a wedding ceremony, even though cancer cast a heavy shadow over their day. "Tragically, just three days later, Dean passed away peacefully in his sleep. Dean was a devoted husband, a radiant father to his beloved three-year-old daughter, and a cherished friend whose laughter, kindness, and indomitable spirit touched countless lives. "His courage inspired us all to hold our loved ones closer and to embrace each moment fully. On behalf of everyone, I extend my deepest condolences to Michaela, their daughter, his mother Louise and the entire Dunphy family following this heartbreaking news." Another pal added: "Deano was such a gent and always a pleasure to be around growing up, kindhearted soul that embodied the spirit of a ballyer man - R.I.P deano." While another said: "Deano was such a gent and always a pleasure to be around growing up, kindhearted soul that embodied the spirit of a ballyer man - R.I.P deano." Dean will be reposing at his Cherry Orchard home from 4pm to 6pm on Friday, with removal on Saturday morning to The Church of The Most Holy Sacrament, Cherry Orchard arriving for 10.30am Funeral Mass followed by a Cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium at 12.45pm. Tributes paid to 'kind-hearted' Dublin dad who died days after getting married
Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to a young father-of-one from Co Dublin, who tragically died of cancer, just three days after he married his partner. Dean Dunphy, a van driver from Ballyfermot, was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer, specifically glioblastoma, in August 2023 after experiencing stroke-like symptoms and muscle twitching. Tragically, Dean passed away at Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday (May 21). Just three days before he passed away, Dean married the love of his life, Michaela, in a beautiful ceremony in front of their friends and family at Opium in Dublin. Unbeknownst to the couple until recently, family members had launched a €40,000 fundraiser to pay for the ceremony and medical bills as they were unable to work, with professional fighter Conor McGregor donating €10,000 to the cause. Michaela and Dean's paths first crossed in 2011 when Dean saw her profile on Facebook and added her as a friend. After messaging for several weeks, the pair arranged to meet in person at a party in March that year. Their relationship went from strength to strength, with the couple welcoming their daughter Sloane in 2021. Dean had suffered with headaches and migraines ever since he was a child, but doctors said this was "common". Then in June 2023, he started experiencing sudden muscle twitching – and this even happened while driving on the motorway for work. The seven-hour procedure went well, with surgeons able to remove the tissue for further testing. However, one week later, doctors called to say "it's not good news" as Dean had stage 4 brain cancer, specifically glioblastoma. Two weeks later, Dean underwent a second surgery to remove the other 'active' cancerous tissue around the brain. He then started chemotherapy and radiotherapy and, in August 2024, during a recovery period, they decided to go on a family holiday to Spain with doctors' approval. However, they had to rush home just days later as Dean's symptoms went from "zero to 100". Doctors then discovered swelling in his brain, and he started having more chemotherapy and a "blocker treatment" to prevent the tumour from increasing in size. Dean continued with treatment to manage his symptoms and underwent check-ups every three months as he and Michaela continued planning for their wedding. The couple tied the knot in Dublin on Sunday, just three days before the young father-of-one passed away 'peacefully in the arms of his wife Michaela and surrounded by his loving family at Beaumont Hospital', according to a death notice shared in Tributes have poured in for the popular young man, who has been remembered as "one of life's absolute gentlemen" whose "laughter, kindness, and indomitable spirit touched countless lives". Barcelona star Jules Kounde fires off another journalist takedown on social media
Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has for the second time in a matter of weeks taken to social media to deny media speculation on the Frenchman. After Marc-Andre ter Stegen was the first to take Catalan media to task, Kounde has on two occasions now called out false reporting. Kounde traveled to Milan as a Barcelona fan last week, cheering on his teammates from the stands at the Giuseppe Meazza, as the Blaugrana came up heartbreakingly short. The Frenchman is nursing an injury from the first leg, and was also ruled out of El Clasico against Real Madrid. No doubt he was a keen participant in the celebrations though, as Barcelona all but wrapped up La Liga. Kounde denies Travis Scott party story Image via Oskar Montero / Diario AS American artist Travis Scott was in attendance at Montjuic for El Clasico, and was hyped up for the occasion as he witnessed a seven-goal thriller. Later on Sunday night, Scott performed at Opium nightclub near Barceloneta beach, an event a number of Blaugrana players were rumoured to be at. MD published that Kounde was one of six stars in attendance, including Pedri, Ferran Torres, Gavi, Marc Casado and Hector Fort. Yet Kounde took to social media to deny the story, saying 'Another lie… I wasn't anywhere close to this place. This is not journalism. Do better Roger Torello and Mundo Deportivo'. Perhaps not a fan of Opium. Previous incident related to Inter-Barcelona clash While he was in Milan, Kounde was alleged to have been overheard saying 'I don't why Lewandowski is playing, the way he is,' in reference to Robert Lewandowski's own recovery from injury. The Polish forward came just before the final whistle, and played extra time against Inter, and looked off the pace. Kounde said no such thing though, and called out Radio Catalunya journalist Laia Tudel for the same thing on social media.
