UPSC to start Aadhaar identity authentication from the next examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be starting the process of integrating Aadhaar identity authentication with the online application process in the next examination, said UPSC chairman Ajay Kumar.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the Standing Committee meeting of Chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions in Chennai on Saturday, Kumar said the process was part of the efforts to ensure greater transparency.
'The Public Service Commission plays an extremely important role in ensuring that the best candidates get selected for civil services all over the country. We will collectively make an endeavour both at the Union level and the State level to make sure that we perform our work diligently,' he said.
The Standing Committee meeting of Chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions on May 24 and 25 at Chennai, hosted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, will discuss various issues relating to the recruitment process for the government services, fair and transparent examination process, sharing best practices, use of technology in the examination process, and managing legal issues that may come up in the recruitment process.
TNPSC Chairman said the meeting will debate critical issues and arrive at clear directions for proceeding further. 'Our discussions have been extremely productive in the past,' he said.
Haryana Public Service Commission Chairman Alok Verma, who is the chairman of the Standing Committee, participated. The committee will deliberate on important issues such as Optical Mark Reader answer sheets, evaluation of descriptive answers and the public perception about the UPSC and State Public Service Commissions. The issue of budgetary constraints faced by various State Public Service Commissions was another issue flagged at the meeting.
