ET Digital UP Conclave: UP using robust tools to monitor progress of districts to achieve OTD goals
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh planning department is undertaking regular district level monitoring to gauge the progress towards the achievement of trillion-dollar economy goals, according to principal secretary, planning, programme implementation & science and technology, Alok Kumar. Speaking in a fireside chat organised as part of the ET Digital UP Conclave 2025 on Friday, he said: "The kind of diversity UP presents in its regional variations has made tracking and monitoring important while chasing the trillion-dollar economy goals. For this, OTD cells have been established at state and district levels to streamline inter-departmental coordination. District-specific targets have been defined for investments, credit flow, and project implementation. " Informing that the department has initiated surveys to enhance data accuracy, he said: "Surveys have been completed across four key districts to improve the accuracy of economic estimates by capturing data on labour force participation, unincorporated enterprises, and GVA (gross value added) per worker. "Continuous upgradation and improvement of state's GDDP methodology conducted, benchmarked with five states, using 25 plus district indicators and revised surveys to generate improved estimates for four pilot districts. Taking a bottom-up approach, a comprehensive survey covering all 75 districts will be conducted starting July 2025," he said. Kumar said the one trillion-dollar economy goal had given an organised structure to the efforts for industrial and infrastructural development in the state. "The best part of it was that it had also taken social indicators into account to make sure that development initiatives lead to improvement in quality of life," he said.
