Possible improvements coming to Mark Twain Golf Couse
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) — The Mark Twain Golf Course could see some vital improvements in 2025 as the City of Elmira plans to allocate serial bonds to pay for part of the costs of new items, according to an agenda from the Elmira City Council.
Listed in an upcoming city council meeting scheduled for April 7, the Mark Twain Golf Course, among other items, is expected to use $115,000 in serial bonds to pay for part of the capital improvements.
The course is slated to add improvements such as new maintenance equipment, bridge improvements on the course, and drainage improvements to prevent flooding.
Elmira Compost Facility to reopen in coming weeks
The new maintenance equipment is listed at a maximum estimated cost of $61,000, the bridge improvements are estimated at $20,000, and the drainage improvements are estimated at $30,000.
According to Ordinance 2025-100, in the April 7 agenda, the city council is expected to vote on the authorization of $6,557,100 in capital items, with $3,498,798 of the expenses being paid for with bonds. The remaining $3,058,302 will be paid for from grants and other sources of funds.
Other items listed in the ordinance include new LED street lighting in the city and more than $1 million in building improvements, including incidental equipment and expenses.
The ordinance states the city will pay back the money used from the bonds with interest in the form of annual payments with collected property taxes.
