Sutton Road Bridge in Hull to close for two days for repairs
Sutton Road Bridge is to be closed for two days for "essential deck repairs", Hull City Council council said the work was being carried out under a road closure "to maintain safety", but access would be maintained for pedestrians and will be diverted over Stoneferry Bridge and the council advised drivers to allow extra time for work is due to start at 06:00 BST on Wednesday 7 May and is due to be completed by 06:00 on Friday. Hull quarters to be linked by High Street crossing and footpaths
A new pedestrian crossing is to be installed in one of Hull's oldest crossing in High Street, at the junction with Church Lane Staith, is part of a city council project to create a "pedestrian-friendly" route between the Old Town and Fruit the work, footpaths in the area are due to be improved and information panels installed to highlight local history.A spokesperson for the council said the work would begin on Tuesday and take about three months to complete, with one lane of the road closed and temporary traffic lights in place. The design for the new crossing includes a raised road surface and paving to match surrounding Osgerby, from the council, said: "These works will not only improve accessibility for everyone but also highlight the city's rich maritime heritage." 27 Hull road closures planned as part of improvement works
Twenty seven roads in Hull will close throughout the month for improvement work, the city council has on Tuesday 6 May, the work is expected to finish by Saturday 31 May, with closures in place from 07:00 to 19:00 work will focus on removing potholes and Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said the closures would "ensure the safety of the contractors and road users". She said: "This programme has been designed to enhance the quality of key residential roads that are showing signs of wear and tear."We apologise for the disruption these works may cause to some residents, but we strive to minimise disruption and keep residents informed as much as possible."She added residents would be informed two weeks before the work started by letter. Hull city centre fountains to remain closed over water safety fears
The fountains in Hull's Queen Victoria Square will remain closed after further faults and concerns over water quality were discovered, the council has water feature has been closed since May 2023 and is fenced off behind a metal Osgerby, a senior officer at Hull City Council, said issues with the internal mechanism, which "can affect water quality", had been discovered during repair works."Despite our best efforts to reopen the fountains, we will not do so until the issues have been fully resolved, and the water quality is satisfactory," she said. Further structural survey on closed River Hull walkway
Further investigations are to be carried out on the condition of a wooden walkway alongside the River of the ageing boardwalk on the west bank between Myton Bridge and Drypool Bridge were shut in July 2021 over safety inspection found the structure was in a "poor condition", Hull City Council authority has appointed an engineering firm to carry out a structural survey and to draw up a plan for its future. The work will take two years and the final proposals will be put out for Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: "The River Hull Walkway is a key part of Hull's maritime history and a vital connection between Myton Bridge and Drypool Bridge."We are pleased to appoint Mason Clark Associates, and we trust they will deliver comprehensive investigations and surveys.
