Foreign Ministry: Maintaining the Stability of Navigation Lanes is an Urgent Necessity
Amir Hagag Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, stressed the need to maintain the stability of international navigation lanes and enhance regional cooperation among the countries bordering the Red Sea to preserve the security of the Red Sea and ensure freedom of international navigation. During his meeting with Annette Weber, the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, on the sidelines of his participation in the Oslo Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that any threat to the security of the Red Sea directly impacts the global economy, especially in light of the growing challenges facing the region. Minister Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt's vision regarding developments in the Horn of Africa and was keen to learn about the European Union Special Representative's assessment of the latest developments in the Sudanese crisis. He emphasized the need to spare the lives of Sudanese, alleviate their suffering, and preserve the capabilities, unity, and institutions of the Sudanese state. He also reviewed Egypt's efforts aimed at resolving the crisis as quickly as possible and Egypt's keenness to participate in various mediation and settlement efforts. Egypt, Norway Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties, Regional Crises at Oslo Forum
Ahmed Emam Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional developments in Gaza and Sudan. The meeting underscored the growing momentum in Egyptian-Norwegian relations, with Abdel Aaty praising recent political and economic progress between the two nations. He highlighted the ongoing dialogue at the highest levels, including President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Norway in December 2024, and welcomed the launch of regular political consultations, as agreed upon during that visit. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's interest in strengthening economic collaboration, particularly in renewable energy. He expressed appreciation for the efforts of Norwegian company Scatec in Egypt and looked forward to the implementation of new joint projects that would boost Norwegian investment in the country. Trade between the two nations was another focal point, with Abdel Aaty encouraging the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) to consider increasing their financial support for Norwegian companies operating in Egypt, particularly in clean energy and aquaculture sectors. He noted that these efforts would benefit from Egypt's recent economic reforms. The Egyptian minister also voiced interest in expanding trilateral cooperation in Africa, citing Norway's strategic engagement with the continent following the launch of its Africa Strategy in August 2024. On regional issues, both ministers exchanged views on the situation in Gaza. Abdel Aaty commended Norway's long-standing support for Palestinian rights and international law, and outlined Egypt's intensive efforts to broker a ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid, and mitigate the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave. He reiterated Egypt's firm position on the Palestinian cause, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Regarding Sudan, Abdel Aaty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the unity and stability of its southern neighbor. He stressed the importance of safeguarding Sudan's national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity amid the ongoing conflict. Gaza situation a humanitarian catastrophe: Dr Khulaifi
QNA Oslo Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi participated as a speaker in the Oslo Forum's first high-level session held under the title 'A different future for the Middle East,' as part of this year's edition of the annual peace forum that takes place in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. In his remarks at the session, Dr Khulaifi said that the Middle East is undergoing rapid changes that require regional actors not only to manage crises but also to play an active role in shaping the future of collective security. He pointed out that the retreat of certain global power centres and the erosion of some multilateral frameworks compel countries in the region to take the initiative and work together to safeguard regional security and achieve lasting stability. He described the situation in Gaza as a humanitarian catastrophe, noting that the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and the widespread suffering of civilians violate international law and necessitate serious international action that goes beyond statements to concrete practical steps. Dr Khulaifi highlighted Qatar's role in supporting political and humanitarian efforts in Gaza and several other countries in the Middle East, stressing that dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes remain the most effective path to achieving just and lasting peace. He affirmed that shifting from crisis management to solution-building requires activating joint regional action and developing new mechanisms that reflect the region's realities. On the sidelines of the forum on Wednesday, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held separate meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Asaad Al Shibani, Minister of International Development of Norway Asmund Aukrust, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Andreas Kravik, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye Burhanettin Duran, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Dr Majid Takht-Ravanchi, and Commissioner for Human Rights in the Ukrainian Parliament Dmytro Lubinets. During the meetings, the parties reviewed bilateral cooperation and ways to support and enhance it, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues.

Egypt FM, Somalia's National Security Adviser review bilateral ties
CAIRO – 11 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty lauded on Wednesday the momentum realized in Egyptian-Somali relations. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's keenness on promoting amicable ties with Somalia, underlining the importance of bolstering cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, and security domains. The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with Somalia's National Security Advisor Hussein Sheikh-Ali on the fringe of the Oslo Forum. Abdelatty underlined the importance of enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Somalia in light of the outcome of the Egyptian-Somali business forum which was held in Cairo in January 2025. He voiced hope that Somalia would continue to benefit from training sessions held by various Egyptian bodies in the capacity-building domain. He reiterated Egypt's keenness to contribute to the African Union mission to support stability in Somalia as soon as possible in light of Egypt's longstanding commitment to supporting the security and stability of Somalia, which is considered an integral part of the stability of the entire region.
