How Celtic can get the best out of striker Callum Osmand
The young striker has reportedly completed a medical and agreed terms with the Scottish Premiership champions ahead of a summer move from Craven Cottage. In 73 total games for Fulham's under-18s and under-21s, Osmand has netted 43 times. Read more: He has never made a senior appearance for the club, but has trained with the first team on several occasions. And Silva, who has been in charge of Fulham since 2021, has explained how Celtic can get the best out of the young frontman: "He is much more mobile [than a traditional centre forward]," he said last year [ "He needs more senior football in his legs to see how he can adapt, perform. He's got the profile that I like. "When he has a chance, he can punish the opposition. I can see the talent, in a position that is very difficult to play in the Premier League. Probably if you play another striker by his side … you will take the best from him. Let's hope we can help him to be ready for the Premier League." Osmand was nominated for Premier League 2's Player of the Year last season. Twelve months prior, he grabbed the headlines in the Premier League Cup final, bagging a hat-trick in a stunning 4-0 win for his Fulham side over Tottenham Hotspur.

Callum Osmand can be Celtic punisher as Marco Silva gives Brendan Rodgers the key to unlock potential
Osmand is set to join the Premiership champions from Fulham as the Hoops take advantage of cross border transfers yet again Marco Silva has told Celtic how to get the best out of incoming new signing Callum Osmand. The Fulham starlet is set to follow in Moussa Dembele 's footsteps and make the move from Craven Cottage to Parkhead as the Premiership champions once again take advantage of cross border transfers for Under 21 payers. They will land the 19-year-old for training compensation and the Welsh youth international is understood to have already completed his Hoops medical. Cottagers boss Marco Silva rates Osmand highly, and promoted him to train with the first team and take his place on the bench towards the end of last season, although he wasn't given an English Premier League run out. And if the Portuguese's comments on Osmand are anything to go by, he will be disappointed to lose him, although the reason for leaving is exactly what Silva said the youngster needed after bringing him into the top team fold at Fulham. And he reckons a strike partner will allow Brendan Rodgers to see Osmand at his full potential further down the line. 'It's not his first time he's been with us," said Silva towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign. "Last season, he had some sessions with us, pre-season too, and the beginning of the season. "He is much more mobile [than a traditional centre forward], let's see if he is going to have a chance or not to play some minutes, but he is going to have a chance to train much more with us, to be much more involved with the first team. 'He needs more senior football in his legs to see how he can adapt, perform. He's got the profile that I like. When he has a chance, he can punish the opposition. "I can see the talent, in a position that is very difficult to play in the Premier League. Probably if you play another striker by his side … you will take the best from him. Let's hope we can help him to be ready for the Premier League.'

Major Mathias Kvistgaarden to Celtic transfer update as Marco Silva claim backs up burning Osmand belief
Celtic have started to get down to business in the transfer window but one long running saga has come to an end Celtic are set to secure Fulham hit kid Callum Osmand – but the Hoops have bowed OUT of a bidding war for Brondby ace Mathias Kvistgaarden. Wales youth prospect Osmand is due to check in on a cross-border compensation deal after agreeing a Parkhead contract. The 19-year-old striker has been a star turn for Fulham's under 21s in Premier League 2 last term – blasting 10 goals in 17 games. Boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his frontline but Record Sport understands Celtic have dropped interest in long-term target Kvistgaarden. The Danish hitman was on the radar last summer when Parkhead chiefs explored the prospect of an £8m move before Adam Idah secured his permanent switch from Norwich City. Kvistgaarden was also linked with Celts in January but it is understood the Hoops had cooled on the move and switched attention to other targets amid reservations about the player's fit. The 22-year-old is set to leave Brondby in the coming weeks and is being trailed by West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt – with Lazio also now entering the race. The Danes are looking to bank more than £12m for the striker – who was called up for the senior national side last week but has now joined up with the youth set up ahead of the Under 21 Euros. Celtic will add keeper Ross Doohan and Kieran Tierney is due to check in for preseason after agreeing pre-contract following his stint at Arsenal. Osmand will also join the group – and could be given the chance to stake a first team claim. The highly-rated teenager has been a bit part of Fulham's youth set up and has regularly been involved around the first team. The Craven Cottage side slapped down a new contract offer but Osmand has opted to head north after being sold on a crack at Scotland by Celts. Fulham boss Mario Silva admitted he had high hopes for the youngster having tipped the attacker for the top. Silva said: 'He is much more mobile (than a lot of strikers). "He needs more senior football in his legs to see how he can adapt, perform. He's got the profile that I like. When he has a chance, he can punish the opposition. 'I can see the talent, in a position that is very difficult to play in the Premier League. Probably if you play another striker by his side, you will take the best from him. Let's hope we can help him to be ready for the Premier League.'

Celtic to make it four princes south of the King's Road as Callum Osmand joins £70m of transfer ingenuity
There is no fool-proof formula to signing players but the Premiership champions appear to have cracked it when it comes to arrivals from West London Signing football players can be an inexact science but if clubs find a formula that works then it can cause a signing explosion. Premiership kingpins Celtic boast an array of transfer hits in the modern era with half of Liverpool's new-look defence starring in green and white in Virgil van Dijk and Jeremie Frimpong turning heads in Glasgow before earning money-spinning exits. Southampton once viewed the Bhoys in green and white as a sage investment with the aforementioned van Dijk, Fraser Forster, Victor Wanyama and Stuart Armstrong all heading to St Mary's. And Celtic themselves have struck gold on their own personal favoured destination and appear primed to once again turn to a star in the making reared in the famed Fulham academy. Enter Callum Osmand; the 19-year-old standout is on the brink of signing for the Premiership champions and he certainly has some recent success stories to prove it's a move worth making. The Welsh youth international is primed to compete in Brendan Rodgers' first team and the Irishman's first trophy-laden era was set off by a star signing from the Cottagers. Moussa Dembele was a step ahead of Osmand with regular game time in the Fulham first team and he backed that up when he arrived in Glasgow. Seriously, Celtic have landed a hat-trick of their most exciting talents from a finishing school which also honed the skills of two modern favourites among the Parkhead fanbase. Managers, academy directors and scouts change, however, players honed in Fulham who arrive at Celtic appear to be a winning combination. Patrick Roberts spent two-and-a-half years on loan from Manchester City after he was signed from Fulham and Matt O'Riley – a snip at £1.5million from Russell Martin's then MK Dons in 2022 – was another who made the grade at Craven Cottage. In total, including transfers, signing-on fees and bumper wages, Celtic have enjoyed the benefits from a trio of talents in Dembele, O'Riley and Roberts which has soared beyond £70m. And the move for Osmand has sparked as much resentment down by the Thames as it has excitement in Glasgow. Fulham fans, and this isn't a feeling consigned to only them, are pig sick that another academy talent is exiting with palpable concerns that first-team success shouldn't be to the detriment to the obvious talent they are churning out. Celtic themselves are no strangers to losing their best young talent with Daniel Cummings – potentially an option for the role earmarked for Osmand – after he secured his move to West Ham. And the incoming forward appears a player of status with his 10 goals in EPL2 last season. Osmand specialises in playing on the last defender and appears suited to the way Rodgers wants his strikers to operate. Now the youngster aims to continue a tradition which appears to always pay off for Celtic.
