Police identify 2 victims killed in Morningside crash

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City Police Department has provided the names of the two victims of a fatal Saturday crash in the Morningside neighborhood. Osmel Borrego Carlez, 40, and Pablo Morales Torres, 26 — both from Norfolk, Nebraska — died from their injuries, according to a release. Both were passengers; the name and condition of the driver were not released. Cherokee man arrested for murder after allegedly running over another man Officials said on Saturday that Sioux City's fire department and police were sent to Transit Avenue and South Cecilia in the Morningside area for a vehicle accident on Saturday, April 19 at 4:26 a.m. There, they found a crashed white 2014 Infiniti QX80 with a driver and two passengers. An investigation found that the SUV was heading east on Transit Avenue at a fast speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a curb, resulting in the car hitting a utility pole and a house's front porch. The driver of the car was injured and transported to a hospital. The front seat passenger was pronounced dead on the scene, and the second passenger was transported to a hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
