Shopee buyer calls seller 'idiot', 'stupid' and 'without brains' for messaging him day after day to change negative review
A Shopee buyer felt harassed by a seller who messaged him repeatedly to change a negative review.
Stomper Wes said the product he had purchased from the seller, turned out to be "absolutely garbage".
"The main function of the product failed," said the Stomper.
But that wasn't the main problem.
"The seller continually harassed me daily to reverse the negative review of the product," he said.
"I have since updated the review with a worse comment, mentioning the harassment from the seller. But the seller is born without brains and continued to harass me."
The Stomper shared screenshots of the messages between him and the seller.
On May 11, the seller apologised that the Stomper was not satisfied with the product and offered: "How about (we) give you $1 coupon and (you) change (to) five-star praise for us?"
The Stomper replied: "Your product does not work at all. Why would I change it to five stars?"
The seller then increased the offer to a $2 coupon for the Stomper to change the review to a positive one.
The Stomper refused, adding: "Not going to cheat other future buyers."
He messaged the seller: "You dare to ask to remove negative rating when the product is still on sale?"
The seller explained: "It can really harm our shop. Really hope you can consider the coupons and remove the feedback to us."
As the seller kept repeating the request for the fourth day, the Stomper responded: "Stop bothering me, you idiot!"
After getting the same messages day after day, the Stomper eventually just asked the seller: "Are you stupid?"
The buyer told Stomp he had raised the problem to Shopee's customer service several times, but all he got was "lip service".
Stomp contacted Shopee on May 28 for more info.
On June 2, the Stomper received an email from Shopee, which said: "After a thorough review, we have taken disciplinary action in accordance with our platform policies and have restricted the seller's ability to message you directly.
"Shopee upholds strict guidelines to ensure a respectful and secure environment for all users. We are also reviewing our internal processes to improve the speed and clarity of resolution in similar cases moving forward."
The buyer told Stomp: "In their email, they said they had blocked the seller from messaging me.
"I don't see what penalties have been meted out to the seller. So this can happen again to other potential buyers. This is not a solution but a workaround."
